Over achieving
I hear this on here quite a lot. That we're 'over achieving' but are we? And if we are to what extent? We gave a 20 goal a season forward in Donnelly who is as good as I've seen in that division, we have some great players and a talented squad who are more than a match for anyone on their day in a division full of inconsistency. Sure, in terms of budget we're not up there with Kettering but as they're proving money doesn't always translate into success. Personally for us I think over achieving would be mid table and above in the division above us. I actually think we're a pretty damn good side in this division and if we were to win the league we'd have done it on merit and ability rather than over achievement.
That's my opinion- please don't shoot me, I come in peace.

Can’t argue with any of that. I keep hearing “poor league” but is it a very good league where almost anybody can beat anybody ?YeltzBaggieNick wrote: ↑09 Mar 2025, 11:33I hear this on here quite a lot. Re: Over achieving
There's no way to tell the standard of the league really. cant say its any worse than last season. One thing though its still anyones to win and whoever comes out on top will make significant changes to try and stay in the National League next season. Guess though that is the same for every team which moves up whatever league it is they moving to.old git wrote: ↑09 Mar 2025, 11:41Can’t argue with any of that. Re: Over achieving
I think the teams last season , particularily bottom half werent great. This season its clearly a better standard. I dont think we're over achieving. We are where we are on merit, against a lot of seasoned teams.

Re: Over achieving
There is a difference between, over/under achieving and being where we are on merit.
For me I guessed at around 6th, we are currently 3rd which imo is over achieving.
Are we there on 'merit' yes of course we are, it's not luck or a fluke.

Re: Over achieving
At the start of every season for the last twenty years regardless of the state of the club I always say “I fancy the playoffs this year”. So in my opinion we’re ticking along nicely in this crazy unpredictable season

We have a very good squad of players for this level in my opinion. I don't think we are overachieving.
I think at the start of the season the minimum expectation from Keith, Russ and the coaching staff would have been a playoff place.

Re: Over achieving
We're having a good season. I'd put us somewhere between par and over-achieving. I think we're doing better than par, but I wouldn't quite say we're over-achieving.
I don't know whether it's me getting older and more miserable but as good and as happy as I am with how the season is going, and we've got a very realistic chance of winning the league, I just don't feel that buzz I'd have expected to feel. I want to feel excited about the potential ending to our season, but I don't. I don't like that. That's nothing to do with the club, Penn, or the players, btw.
