Surely Colin Robinson (ex-Blues) was the most disappointing ex-pro ever signed by the Yeltz.

It seems that generally you really get a player way past his prime, thus why they are no longer required at league level. If you pick up an exception they can be worth their weight in gold though. Caskey and Hughes have already been mentioned but undoubtedly the best we have had was the late Paul Birch. What a class act he was.
