Re: Sudbury Updates
Midfield is the one area we have a number of guys fighting for places. An excellent chance with the suspensions for the likes of Ceesay and Clayton Phillips to put a claim in for a starting spot

Re: Sudbury Updates
Clayton Philips played for Walsall Wood in an earlier round, so not sure he will be available, which will leave us with 13 outfield players. No obvious replacement for Donnelly, apart from Yousef

Deffo up for a conspiracy theory, so, how about, because Walsall Wood have gone bust, surely he’s no longer cup-tied?

Re: Sudbury Updates
After the excellent performance on Tuesday at Lowestoft, where our finishing was superb I was a little worried that we might struggle yesterday. Once again though the quality of Ponticelli and KD made a huge difference. Having Ceesay to come on, on 60 minutes again it's such an asset too, he gets straight into the game and his imposing nature allows us to see out games. I suspect with both KD and Mini likely to be out next week at Kiddy we might see Parker, Smile and Ceesay. All three of them have been excellent in recent games and it's great we have depth there.
It's been a really good for weeks, with a free hit to come next week a win could really give us some great momentum as we approach Christmas. The only downside yesterday was the sending off of KD and Mini. KD's first yellow was shocking, it wasn't even a foul the CB threw himself to the floor with a squeal. I'm told that Mini's second yellow wasn't even a foul from someone nearer than I was.

Quite excited by Russ’s remarks about next week. Half expected him to play it down but, no, we’re going there to get the win apparently, and who can blame him.

I agree the midfield has improved a lot as well as the whole team set up.RobYeltz wrote: ↑10 Nov 2024, 20:10After the excellent performance on Tuesday at Lowestoft, where our finishing was superb I was a little worried that we might struggle yesterday. I am always a bit wary about criticising referees too much at this level. It is a difficult and thankless job, players do not often help by faking or calling for cards, and obviously sometimes the referees get it wrong.
I think the referee got the Manning foul right and also we need to remember that the ill-discipline at the end wasn't the referee's fault.

Absolutely superb performance - the best under Penn's time here, that I've seen. I think? It's all coming together nicely under Penn's leadership. It's amazing what difference having a striker who is mobile, can hold up the ball, can score and actually looks like he wants to be here, can make. It just gives us that outlet to relieve pressure on the defence, as well as a focal point to build attacks.
Josh Smile was my man of the match, but I wouldn't argue with you if you picked any of the starting XI (other than Manning, due to sending off. You don't give MotM's to red carders, do you. Even if it was a ridiculous decision). To a man the effort and desire to go and get the win after going 1-0 down, and then again after going 1 man down, was phenomenal. It's hard to believe this is largely the same group of players that put in the most inept and pathetic Yeltz display I've seen v Hitchin a matter of weeks ago. What a turnaround it has been. Fair play to the players and Penn for changing things.
What's the craic with appealing. With Yeltz TV we must have good footage of the second booking for Manning and KD's first booking, both of which weren't even fouls, let alone yellow cards!

Re: Sudbury Updates
I may be wrong here but I don't think you can appeal a yellow. Or 2 yellows. Only a straight red. JC would be the go to man.

Re: Sudbury Updates
Judging from the highlights, I suspect some form of appeal is going in.
