Whilst the season so far has been far from disastrous, in terms of results (I'm happy with the league position and points tally), performances have been less than convincing. I thought it was interesting that Penn said he didn't see Saturday coming. I've got to be completely blunt, an absolute shit show that we saw on the weekend has been coming for a number of weeks now. Surely Penn could see that? The warning signs were there against Bedford, and we put in a similarly inept and toothless display against Alvechurch. It's not exactly out of the blue, Russell! And it shouldn't be surprising that we struggle performance wise when we are in essence starting each match with ten players.

I've been a season ticket holder for ten years now, a blink of an eye compared to the old 'uns on here ;D, admittedly, but Saturday's pathetic and embarrassing display is right up there with the worst displays I've seen from a Yeltz side. In fact I'm really struggling to think of any that are worse, and I'm including the drivel that was served up by the Chuckle brothers as we succumbed to inevitable relegation when Steve Lynch was visiting Wembley on a more regular basis than the England National team.

I've never witnessed a player cheered off and then his replacement booed on. What a bizarre reaction, which regrettably, I completely get, but don't necessarily agree with. Whilst Boothe and Yussuf aren't the only players that warrant criticism I can seldom think of two players who have taken the piss out of fans with their half arsed, lazy performances more than these two. I can accept players not being good enough, but what I can't accept is players who show no effort whatsoever, and stink the place out with a misplaced arrogant attitude that these two players seemingly possess. Shushing fans when you score a lucky deflected shot? Heading straight down the tunnel when seconds after you miss a sitter and refuse to acknowledge traveling support? Sending sarcastic Tweets when you score a rare goal which happens to be a tap in? Laughing at fans when they shout criticism? Treating the club like a cash cow? Behave yourselves and show some respect. It's harsh to single out individual players, I am aware, but it really is the massive elephant in the room. It's a first in my time being a Yeltz fan that I've witnessed individual players so unanimously criticised and disliked by pretty much the whole fan base. Despite the nonsense posted above, I actually think, as a general fan base, we're a patient lot, so that says an awful lot to me.

There's a lot of work for Penn to do and I believe he has the quality to take us forward, but the first thing he must do is show Boothe and Yussuf the door. Amongst others. Penn is entitled to make mistakes, he's human. His Summer signings simply haven't been good enough. It's time to admit he has got it wrong and look to move a number of players on, who have shown over a number of games they're not good enough, and frustratingly, don't care or work for the team, and sign players who want to be here.

In fact it's easier to list the players who are worthy of staying.

Platt
Wynter
Hickman
Donnelly
Mini Mac

What a sad state of affairs.

The way we're playing AND the collective attitude, or lack of, of this team can not carry on. Big changes in playing personnel are needed, but is it achievable - in terms of the right players, of the right quality and price, being available?

As Yussuf is contracted and presumably being well paid for it, I'm struggling to see how we offload him. I think we've got to hope he comes good, unfortunately.

As for Boothe, he's never going to do it. He wasn't good enough last season and isn't good enough this. Penn must know that but I can only guess there isn't money for an upgrade.

All of which means there are no goals in the team. I think KD is our best player but he's got a short fuse and has looked frustrated for a few weeks. He's not being played in his best position but as we go into October, he's the only player to score more than once (I think...).

Nonsense, that's your opinion, others have theirs. Think your post for me sums up nicely where we are - disjointed, not aligned, non supportive of each other , basically on the verge of imploding. When any organisation is in this situation who's to blame - normally it's all the different 'sides' involved, as quite frankly it's totally clear we are not as one. Yes a sad state of affairs that need resetting quick. A 3-0 win will do that almost instantly until we lose again. I know fans bounce from one game to another, from one emotion to another, but this is me is way to extreme and quite frankly ridiculous (in terms of reading this forum game to game). However very entertaining.

Its perfectly normal to be negative after a defeat, especially when performances are so poor, and positive after a good win. People would accept a defeat if their was effort and skill from the team. Its perfectly acceptable to play well and lose. Saturday was not acceptable at all. Watching Penn's interview, he is similarily down and looks completely deflated.
Their are a lot of negatives at the moment, but we have to give a bit of time and patience for it to be turned round. If it doesnt then questions have to be asked. Far too soon to question the manager now. Still say mid October is fair to all.

All this talk of him being on big contract and we’re stuck with him, surely all contracts at this level will be heavily weighted in a paid as you play basis and a small weekly fee?

I have no idea how these things work at this level, but as it’s not full time employment then surely we could just shake hands?

Recruitment as been very poor since Penn has come in in my opinion. Not sure where we go from here but highly doubt the budget cupboards are bare….

I would add Parker to the list. Runs his socks off every game covering those who cant be arsed. Needs some solid support in the middle

Having watched Halesowen bow out of the FA Cup against Redditch, admittedly on a 4g pitch, I thought that the performance was...err......bad? However, as we were the away side, I consoled myself with the fact we couldn't play that bad again😬 how wrong was I? Saturday was just woeful, really woeful. Roll on Saturday..........🤞🏼

Very good post. As Rich says though, I too would add Parker to the list.
