Pre-Season Friendly – Saturday, 13th July 2024
Halesowen Town 2 Tamworth 2
Halesowen’s first pre-season friendly ended all square against newly promoted National League Tamworth in an entertaining contest, writes David Johnson.
Higher league Tamworth looked sharpest early on as Yeltz goalkeeper Dan Platt turned away Ty Deacon’s 4th minute shot for a corner and Alex Fletcher then hit just over Platt’s bar.
Halesowen took the lead in the 20th minute when captain Todd Parker threaded a pass from midfield for new signing Conor Tee to superbly fire his low shot from the right across goalkeeper
Leon Philips.
Chances continued to go begging for Tamworth as Thomas McGlinchey and Fletcher both hit wide of the mark. But the Lambs finally equalised in the 40th minute when Beck-Ray Enoru was first to a through ball to slot into an empty net after home goalkeeper Platt raced out of goal.
After the interval new Halesowen striker Adi Yussuf fired tamely at the Tamworth goal and Halesowen’s McKauley Manning then skipped through several challenges before dragging the ball wide.
Central defender Ryan Wynter restored Halesowen’s lead when he headed home directly after a 72nd minute free-kick from the left was delivered by a trialist. The Lambs levelled again at 2-2 in the 83rd minute when new signing Miracle Okafor converted at the second attempt from close range against his former club. Halesowen substitute Ryan Fletcher then went close in the dying seconds.

Re: Tamworth Updates
Was away for the weekend so couldnt make this game but how did the new players look?
Does it look like the makings of a good team for this season and did any of the trialists stand out?
