Floodlight costs etc

There has been a lot of talk about non league clubs saving money and kicking off earlier due to floodlight costs/energy prices. I note that Tamworth have been bringing their games forward to avoid/reduce this.

Would be interesting to see the costs Vs possible/probable reduced attendance if we did earlier kickoffs

Cant see an issue on weekends for 2 o clock kick offs tbh. Night games is a different ball game.

There's no reason why games have to start at 3pm. I don't know how much it costs to turn the floodlights on for a couple of hours but there must be teams who can't afford it. Yaxley got 48 people at their game today. Why shouldn't they be able to kick off at 1pm?

No. Television has already ruined Saturday 3pm football. That would just be the final nail in the coffin.

The coach for Forest Green fans had to set out at 4-30am today because of changed kick off time for television.

Changing the kick off time for television isn't the same as changing it because the home team can't afford their electricity bill..Sticking to Yaxley, why should they lose money so five Coleshill fans can have another hour in bed?

Downside is that if the kickoff is earlier, then if a pitch inspection is needed then a decision is needed earlier in the day. There is a risk that a match could be called off that would be viable pitch-wise at 3pm. Result - a game postponed to midweek with lower attendance than off played on Saturday and potentially higher floodlight costs than if played on the original date

That's a fair point but clubs would have to factor that risk into their decision as to what time they want to kick off.

and don’t forget that debacle in Quatar will alter some more times as well. Home to Cambridge could be a problem.
