Re: Bedworth Updates
In fact Johnny Bucknall was in the team when Geoff Moss was selected for the first time, as sub for a 2-0 away win at Hednesofrd. on 26 Aug 1978:
CHECKETTS RANDLE PAGE BEASLEY BUCKNALL MARTIN JOYCE WILLIAMS NICKLESS COLE CALLOWAY sub MOSS
In the next match, Geoff made his first start and scored in another 2-0 win in front of 75 fans:
29-Aug-78 BILSTON H 75 2 0 CHECKETTS RANDLE PAGE BEASLEY MARSHALL COOPER JOYCE MOSS* COLE MARTIN* WELSH sub: LAWLEY

Re: Bedworth Updates
Great knowledge, as ever, Chas.
Malcolm has also castigated me for underplaying his and the Joiners’ appearance and goal tally.
He reckoned 1500 / 700.
Can you provide the numbers?

Re: Bedworth Updates
Wow.
1756 appearances, 796 goals.
Just think about that for a moment.
80 goals a season from just 3 players, every year, for 10 years.
Add in Geoff’s numbers too, and you can see what a fantastic time it was.

This must have been answered elsewhere, but who holds the record for all-time appearances?

Re: Bedworth Updates
I don't know what happened to my previous post, so i'll try again. Thanks to LLL for confirming my thoughts. John joined us from Oldbury United , in the dismal days, when there were probably more serving in the tea hut than paying spectators. He was then a midfielder but converted to centre half. He also played for Halesowen Harriers on a sunday, cos you could then. I worked at the same place as him in the very early seventies but John always seemed to spend more time selling his Oldbury United daily draw tickets , than working at his lathe. Coincidently , like Geoff, he worked for the post when our factory closed.
OH THE GOOD OLD DAYS -not.

Re: Bedworth Updates
It’s got to be PJ.
I don’t believe I ever saw Johnny Bucknall play. I only know him because of his constant presence on the terraces over many years. A lovely bloke with great knowledge of the game. Well worth a chat with him if you get an opportunity.
