I have it on good authority that Rob Smith, after watching the Rushden game just before his appointment, was totally shocked at the lack of quality in the side.
The fact that he has acted quickly in bringing in new faces shows that sentiment doesn't register with him.
There has to be a rebuilding - and bloody swiftly!
Some fans moaned that Asa and Brags should have played against Stour as they had the passion for such a game.
I sometimes think that our season is concentrated on just two games and that isn't healthy, in my opinion.

You are spot on, Lutley. I honestly can’t believe my eyes at some of the comments I’ve read since the Stour game.

Speaking bluntly, some people had convinced themselves that we had a really capable squad that was being undone by John Hill’s tactics and influence. The last few weeks have thrown that assertion out of the window head first. It is now perfectly obvious that the players Rob and Larry inherited are [raises megaphone] NO WAY NEAR GOOD ENOUGH! So changes like this are inevitable.

PS- anyone who disagrees I will happily fight bare-chested in Steve Lynch’s Wooden Octagon.

The state of the squad the new management inherited was appalling, but the squad that started the season wasn't IMO. But for whatever reason good players left the club. Anyway, that's all irrelevant now.

Forget having a fight in that thing, can we not just burn it?

Disappointed with this but probably more from a nostalgic/sentimental point of view. Asa has been part of the furniture for the club for a good number of years and was actually there in my early days of first watching the Yeltz back in 2002 - which now makes me feel old!

A true professional who gave 100% in every game and one I felt could still do a job for us although it has to be said that time is now not on his side so can understand the new management wanting him to move on. Would have liked him to have seen the season out though.

Will surely go down as a Yeltz legend for his commitment and great loyalty to us which is a rarity in football these days, especially in non-league. Good luck Asa!

They wouldn't have made a difference. But it's in the past. And we've moved on today.

We won without Asa.

But you shouldn't have passion for one game. You should have it for the other 40 games a season. I've just watched the new management riase the game of the players and produce a passionate display at home to Banbury. That's just as important.
