I would expect Tamworth, King's Lynn, Kettering, Leiston, R&D and our neighbours to be up there pitching.

Agree with that shortlist. I reckon King's Lynn will be starting as favourites- they scored 100 points in the league this year, but still fell 13 short of Hereford Hednesford have underachieved recently so could also be in the mix if they sort themselves out.

Hardly sets the pulse racing but it does represent a good chance to get out this level. It’s more Southern Division One than NPL level.

I'm not sure that being in the NPL set the pulse racing. That will only come if the team is playing well. Whether it necessarily represents a good chance to get promoted remains to be seen, particularly until we know what the team looks like.

Anyway, I'm guessing that the other teams aren't going to be quaking at the prospect of playing us, though I hope that I'm proved wrong.

I guess that the success or otherwise is down to two key factors: any increase in playing budget and any change in management/playing style

If both of those two remain the same as for recent seasons then I would suggest that we will be mid-table at best. if both change in a positive direction then we could be in for interesting times ahead.

Pretty much nail on head there. I'm taking an educated guess that the players who have re-signed give a strong indication that the management aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

We 'should' be aiming for more than mid-table at this level and anything other than that would be a failure, for me.

If we're not challenging for a play off place by the winter then questions should be asked.

I can’t remember us facing: AFC Rushden (although very aware of meeting their predecessors), Leiston, Lowestoft, Needham Market, Royston, or St Ives.

Anyone care to recall a long-forgotten fixture to help shorten this shortlist?

When we were in the SPL I used to think of Dover as the hellish journey (before anyone comments I know Truro was further) yet Lowestoft is only 1 mile closer! 212 miles seems to suggest that the regionalisation has not worked. Especially not for them!
