Nah.

To put everybody out of my misery, it was Bobby Hope.

I know this because I was at school with his son, Jamie.

I'm surprised that my clue of highlighting the word "post" didn't give it away to some, as Bobby was famously a sub-postmaster after he retired from playing.

Another quiz next week! (If I can be arsed. So it's most unlikely).

I've been trying to find this one all day (I mean I've been working really hard ;D ), never even got close. How the f*ck are we supposed to know he was a postmaster? Grr.

I''d ruled out Bobby Hope as I thoght 1980s in the clue also applied to his playing career

Whenever he was mentioned, it always said that he ran a Post Office, like Timmy Langford being a postman and Sean Flynn and Andy Pearce being hod carriers.

Rob Shilvock even gets a mention - I was unaware of his talent as a "merciless mimic"...

So Brother Cooper, since when has a quiz answer been based on having to know the son of the person in question?
I googled the managers of every WEST MIDLANDS side I could think of (strangely Burton and Bromsgrove did not fall into this category ::) ), I ran synonym checks on the words 'post', 'subtle', 'shameless' and 'bump', I watched youtube videos of sodding washing powder adverts and checked playing careers from the wrong decade.
What I SHOULD have done was buy a random copy of the Independent and been in your class at school.
You dare do a quiz next week, I've got work to do you know......

Glad to provide a public service Brother Avery.
Tune in this time next week for a question about Nicky Adams's choice of underpant based on me going drinking with his cousin.

I'm not falling for another one!
Just as a matter of interest though, which cousin was it?......

Or who did I play in the skittles final organised by HTFC at Hagley Country Club in the 1980s?
Don't ask me who won, I can't remember.
