I believe if we keep the current group together and add a little bit more quality wise and get rid of those who clearly aren't good enough, we could easily reach the play offs, or at least have a push for them next year. Could we do likewise in the South?

Darlington are about the best I've seen this season. The rest have been average. Salford and Stourbr*dge in relatively recent games (Boxing day is recent, surely?) haven't been impressive. Infact there's a good argument we deserved to win those games. And they're supposedly two of the best teams in the league.

I tend to agree. A lot of teams have been much of a muchness this season.
Darlington are good and will go up and Salford have loads of money and will go up sooner or later.
When we've suffered bad defeats it's usually been as much due to our poor shortcomings on the day as the quality of the opposition (Sutton, Barwell and Nantwich spring to mind).

The Southern league may lack some of the bigger names but the overall depth is on a par.

After Mickleover drew at Nantwich tonight the relegation places are confirmed (barring any reprieves).

So next season we won't be playing Ramsbottom, Colwyn Bay, Hyde or Stamford.

Let's assume we lose Darlington and Blyth the other way.

We'll most probably get Corby, Hednesford, Warrington, Stafford, plus possibly Barnsley Town and Spennymoor.

Not much potential for the most interesting of away days but fewer miles overall.

Salford beat Workington 3-2 with a late goal to go up.

Coming up to our division are Coalville and Spennymoor who won the play off finals along with Stafford and Warrington.

So one long trip and 2 short ones.
