The War Memorial Ground?
Just because where it is, and who plays there!

We once played Oldswinford at The Delph. It was a midweek match when we were clearing fixtures after a backlog through a Vase run. The rain was lashing down and little cover. Very bleak.

I beg to differ my Lord, I have always found Stourbr*dge CC to be a thoroughly decent lotlutleyyeltz wrote:The War Memorial Ground?

Gateshead seems to feature highly (or lowly). I must concur with that, it was a pretty drab, subdued and a long day. I ran there several times in front of big crowds but for our match there it was pretty bleak

I also thought Frickley this year was pretty grim and I know it started this thread off but I am really not keen on Rushall's ground. I never went to Fisher so can't comment but I was surprised nobody has mentioned Welling.YeltzDoc wrote:Some good answers. I'd forgotten Fisher, although it was generally more convenient for me back in the day.
A recent one that was truly joyless in terms of atmosphere, weather, result, beer availability and food has to be Gateshead. I couldn't watch my football in that environment every week. Bleugh.
I agree with Frickley. Frickley last season in particular was like being in 1979.

There are a lot of grounds we've visited from leagues below us but it would be unfair to criticise them, but another god awful one we played when at midland division level was Coventry Sporting.A parks pitch with a grass bank to sit on.

Not a bad ground, but an out of the way soulless place for me is Clevedon.

Yes, it's strange how sometimes the town can be really quite pleasant in comparison to the ground. Clevedon is a good example of that.andy wrote:Not a bad ground, but an out of the way soulless place for me is Clevedon.
Welling wasn't great, though obviously they're in the National League so have upgraded somewhat though you can still get a view of the action from the bus.
There are some poor ones in our local area, but as has been said, it may be unfair to judge given the level some play at
On the flip side, here's someone's view of the 'best' ones - scroll down to those beginning with 'S'!
