Our biggest test is going to be keeping hold of key trio Kristian Green Curtis Tilt and Joe Hull who yet again have been superb this season if we pull that off the foundation is there as well as a sign of intent for next season, i would stick to the current system but more passes have to go out quicker to green and Griffiths to do this as for the rest of the backline i see no reason to change Asa Charlton has vital experience and still has plenty to offer and i am a big fan of Aaron Griffiths as for the goalkeeping jersey Matthew Sargeant has done more than enough to be the no 1 next season.
Midfield i would keep Tom Tonks as i believe he can kick on even more next season and provide a throw every now and again when it is needed as well as do the grafting which means no place for Bragoli hard worker but we need something different in there, as for Fordey done great this year but his disipline and lanquage make it a no from me dont want to hear it so we would need new blood there someone in the mould of Richard Batchelor who can run past the attackers pick a pass, score goals take free kicks etc.
In attack with the amount of games Iyseden Christie would not be in my plans and i am going for Ben Haseley over Aaron Daniels simply for finishing providing Ben gets the support he needs from those around him, we also need some bigger front men someone like Paul Sullivan a young hard working player.
Overall i think there is 6 or 7 decent sides in this division the rest are their to beat next year may be tougher with sides coming down and if Salford Darlington come up i think at times we have shown to much respect for some sides hence the number of draws we have had
My retained list
Matthew Sargeant
Kristian Green
Aaron Griffiths
Asa Charlton
Joe Hull
Curtis Tilt
Tom Tonks
Ben Haseley

Re: What would you do?
Agree with a lot of your post but for me Fordy is a must, he is in my top 2 for player of the season. I think his indiscipline has improved from last season, the way he plays he is bound to pick up bookings, but I think that's worth it for what he does, I also think his passing and composure on the ball has improved. Not sure if any/many agree but that's the way I see it and he is a player I recognise the qualities as that's how I played !Dazzie76 wrote:Our biggest test is going to be keeping hold of key trio Kristian Green Curtis Tilt and Joe Hull who yet again have been superb this season if we pull that off the foundation is there as well as a sign of intent for next season, i would stick to the current system but more passes have to go out quicker to green and Griffiths to do this as for the rest of the backline i see no reason to change Asa Charlton has vital experience and still has plenty to offer and i am a big fan of Aaron Griffiths as for the goalkeeping jersey Matthew Sargeant has done more than enough to be the no 1 next season.

Re: What would you do?
I would like the majority of the squad to stay.
I think Fordey is an important part and has controlled his temper. As for bad language is it not around society and at football you hear it from fans, management and the odd player.
I think Christie (appreciate all he has done for us) has not got the legs for this level now.
We need a striker and a good passing midfielder.
A tweek not an overhall. Mess too much and you could break it all together.

Re: What would you do?
I also think that a few tweaks are all that's needed. As a new fan this season, at the start, not knowing any of the players, three stood out for me. The right back (Green), the centre half (Tilt) and the winger (Lait). Didn't rate Fordy how wrong was I. I think he's crucial to the midfield. Of the current squad, Ben up top all day long. I like Daniels but feel his best position is out wide. I think the amount of games this season has taken its toll on Christie, but think he could still do a job as a squad player. Liking the look of the new lad Meese but guess it's too early to judge yet. A player that's really grown on me is Griff. I think at times his delivery of the ball has been excellent. Sarge and Hull are no brainers. Can we get another season out of Asa? Slipped into that role at the back easily and organises well. I'd like to see a striker that can hold the ball up and reasonable in the air and a ball playing midfielder so this would be my starting team
1 Sarge
2 Green
3 Griff
4 Forde
5 Hull
6 Tilt
7 Asa
8 Tonks/Meese
9 New Striker
10 Ben
11 New Midfielder
I'd retain Christie, Daniel's If they were prepared to stay

Re: What would you do?
I agree with pretty much most of the posts here. Don't think wholesale changes are needed, just a few new additions to freshen up the squad with hopefully a bit more quality.
I think the majority of the remaining squad this season are playing at 'their level' and think it's unlikely they could go higher and think they would be stupid to go anywhere else, especially 'them lot down the road.' But then again, what do I know?!
I wholeheartedly agree though that sadly Christie, as good a striker as he is/was, he has had his day and a bit more pace is needed up front so a new striker would be on the list. I'd happily keep Ben, although he hasn't had the best of seasons if he stays he can become a true 'legend' of the club.
Also love Tonksy, his passion and commitment speaks volumes. Also, the 'stalwarts' Kristian Green, Curtis Tilt, Joe Hull, plus Matt Sargeant in goal should be kept on.
Also like the look of the new lad Meese, and Daniels was showing promise of a good player before his injury.
Again what do I know, but I think the new generation of Yeltz fans and me as a 'born again' Yeltz fan have become familiar with this current squad of players and whilst definitely additions are needed to freshen up and add a bit more quality to the side, I feel it would be a shame to lose too many of the players who have given it their all the past 18 months.

Re: What would you do?
If JH isn't looking to change the playing style for next season then I can't see the point of lots of changes. It has done the job, kept us comfortably up after promotion. The downside of it to me is whether we will get again what we have now, a team that's burnt out by March due to the tempo we play at. Sitting on 50 points it's frustrating but not fatal, but if we're at 40 points next time then we are stuffed. Personally I think that if we get a better pitch then we need more players like Ford who can spread the passes around, make the ball do the work, and above all play with some real width - Daniels on the wing rather than a forward, for example.

Some interesting points, what can you tell us about the players you've mentioned?Dazzie76 wrote:Our biggest test is going to be keeping hold of key trio Kristian Green Curtis Tilt and Joe Hull who yet again have been superb this season if we pull that off the foundation is there as well as a sign of intent for next season, i would stick to the current system but more passes have to go out quicker to green and Griffiths to do this as for the rest of the backline i see no reason to change Asa Charlton has vital experience and still has plenty to offer and i am a big fan of Aaron Griffiths as for the goalkeeping jersey Matthew Sargeant has done more than enough to be the no 1 next season.
