FCUM V Halesowen

Post by FCUM » 23 Feb 2015, 16:19

Greetings Yeltz fans, hope you're looking forward to tomorrow nights game at The Tameside Stadium, Ashton-U-Lyne

Not sure if you've been to Curzon's ground before so I just thought I'd come along with some info

Satnav users can use OL7 9HJ

Getting to the ground by car

From Stockport (south) direction - Leave the M60 at junction 23 (Ashton-u-Lyne). Turn left at the top of the slip road, go straight through the next set of lights and bear right (onto Lord Sheldon Way) at the next set. Continue on this road until you come to a set of traffic lights with the Cineworld Cinema on your right. Turn left here onto Richmond St. Over the bridge, across the mini-roundabout and then first left down to the ground.

Anyone coming on the train can get the Ashton tram from Manchester to Ashton West station, turn left along Richmond Street and you will see the ground on your left, about five minutes walk

There is reasonably priced good quality food in the ground and choice of two bars

Safe journey and good luck

Thanks for the information. It's a shame this game is not on a Saturday as we'd be bringing more fans than we will tomorrow for sure.

It might be worth reminding Yeltz fans that Man Ci£y are at home tomorrow to Barcelona so traffic could be even more problematic.

An appeal also, with them expecting over 2,000 people at the game it would be great for once if we could all stand together to make ourselves seen and heard. Spreading around the ground we'll definitely be lost amongst them!

Tuesday night matches are a pain for away fans, if we were coming to you I doubt we would get much more than 500 on a tuesday

I would suggest allowing plenty of time for the trip up, when you come off the M6 (J19) for the M56 Stockport that stretch of road between the two motorways (Bucklow Hill) gets quite congested, there may also be slow moving traffic as the M60 goes past Stockport, wouldn't want you to miss kick off :)

Plenty of room in the ground for you all to gather together, if you want to stand behind the goal you will be able to change ends at half time, there is also a small open terrace near the turnstiles that would be ideal, if it's raining there's seats in the main stand or you can claim a portion of the big stand opposite the dugouts where the noise will be

Hopefully we'll be on the M6 by 4pm, can't leave any earlier due to work. The M6 is a cruel mistress, we could be there either before 6pm or by half time. We'll see. Thanks for the travel advice, whichever we we go it'll be a nightmare I'm sure!

if you travel by car getting to ashton is a nightmare and getting away is just as bad.
We have had loads of night fixtures lately and last week the M6 was closed on the way home between 13 and 12.
