FA Trophy

Post by JohnC » 29 Nov 2014, 20:19

What is the furthest we have been in this competition round wise?

When were we into the first round proper last if at all?

I don't remember all these qualifying rounds before the first round I'm pretty sure at one time we started in the first round were all these qualifying rounds brought in at the time of conference North South restructuring?

Cheers folks. Ben H top goal scorer at 12 (hope you feel better soon Ben) highest crowd home 1157.

Third round proper so three more wins to beat that record.

A nice home draw next round could see 1157 beaten.

Not sure this is right ?? I don't think there used to be qualifying rounds, and if we had got into the third round proper as it is today we would have been in the last 16 :o and It may be my fading memory but I recall that our historic record in this competition is pretty poor ::) Chas ?????

I quoted you oldgit as the oracle on this yesterday ;D my befuzzled memory fails me.

The competition has definitely changed probably when the North & South Conference Leagues were formed and the consequential impact on leagues below.

Well done to the lads on the win yesterday and chuffed we have made it through to the 1st round proper, sure the extra prize money will come in handy!

Just a note regarding the attendance yesterday, 415 - of which I have heard approx. 100 of these were Gresley fans. Could have been better really, although I am guilty myself of non-attendance yesterday! Maybe a few took the time out to go Xmas shopping!

Would be nice to get a 'big' team in the next round, although the game would fall on 13th December which would be the same day as the Albion vs Villa derby, which if we are drawn at home could impact the attendance particularly as that game kicks off at 3pm as well.

Although highly unlikely, I was wondering (in hope more than expectation I suppose) if we were drawn at home, of our game being moved, either to an earlier start of 12.30? Or possibly to a Sunday so people who wanted to watch the derby would get the best of both worlds?

Like I said, probably unlikely but just a thought in order to boost the attendance.
