A heartbreaker- yes. A disaster -no.
Two boys in blue were in the far corner - I believe they were looking for a man dressed in black who was impersonating a referee!
Age related error - Matlock won.

There is no pace in the side and this can be related to fitness as well. Fitness can be a matter of perception. People view things differently
The lack of pace does also fall at feet of the management. It does need to be addressed. I like Christie a lot but he was very isolated in the first half, especially with the number of long balls, so how people can say tactically they got it spot on confuses me slightly. And why Lait doesn't play is a mystery
Lait has been playing a lot lately after coming back from a string of injuries...common sense dictates he can't be thrown in the starting line up every week.
What you've posted is not an opinion it's an absolute joke. Ill informed rubbish.

'Lack of pace falls at the feet of management'.
I would take an educated guess that players at this level with pace are either inconsistent and / or over valued and expensive.
In essence we can't afford to go out and buy a pacey winger.
Again, reality check.

Ok, fine, Im ill informed and need a reality check. But if what you say is true, why do most of the other teams at this level seem to have players with more pace than ours?
It is supposed to be a forum where opinions are shared. I'm sharing mine, and I don't really think I should be told I'm talking ill informed rubbish just because I have a different opinion to you

I can't think of one team who has been full of pace or one opposition that has torn us apart with their pace?

That may be the case, and it may be because generally our defenders are very good. However, it doesn't mean that pace isn't important. I've seen lots of teams who have players who are more athletic and you think it would be great to have somebody like that. It would make a huge difference. Tonks for example, for all his effort and great attitude, was never going to get on the end of any of the slide rule passes that were made for him today. It's not his role I know, but what I am getting at is imagine if you had somebody who was quick and could get there. Lait, when we played at Rushall, was so effective that evening because he is the one who does have a bit of speed (and a fair amount of skill).

I suspect Lait wasn't fully fit today. He struggles with injuries.
I take your point on Tonksy out wide, I like to see my wingers have pace. For me we have looked at our best when we have RTB and Laity on the wings.
But I respect the managers selection. He got it spot on today as we played well enough to win this game by some distance. Like I say we created more than enough to win two matches.
People have rightly said Stamford weren't great today. They created very little, why? Because we put 5 in midfield and had the graft of Tonksy on the wing.
For all his qualities Lait possesses I don't think it's a coincidence that when he came on Stamford created a little more.
That's not a criticism of Lait, for me he's been the player of the season thus far. I really rate the chap.
John Hill's tactics were absolutely spot on today.
I get the feeling we'll line up like we did today against the stronger teams and maybe start RTB and Laity against those who aren't so strong.
Rightly so.

Very very unlucky today. Was great to see Ben get another goal but feel we need BOTH Iyseden & Ben up there...but who I would drop? That's something I can't answer.
Defence worked brilliantly - Green fully deserved MOTM (he didn't miss anything in the air) but the others were excellent too.
Hope to see a good attendance Tuesday & we finally get the first home win - it's been coming! Up the Yeltz

One other point I would like to raise is the abuse of the referees. I have been going to the Grove for twenty years and I cannot remember the abuse being as bad as it currently is. People took objection to my criticisms of the team last night, but I would like to point out that the referees are also amateurs, and are, like the players, simply doing their best. Surely if people are seemingly not allowed to criticise players, that the same rule should apply to the referees at this level?

Abuse of referees is probably getting worse because , with the odd exception, the standard is getting worse .I thought that the officials at this higher level would in general be better. Not so far.
