Folk would also like to see better players on the pitch as well but it's a matter of where the line is drawn. Budgets are allocated for specific areas of the club, the FOTG draw will be for the additional extras that aren't budgetted for every year. I assume pitch maintainance already has a budget as it needs money spending on it all year round and not just pre season? It may be a piece of equipment is required to help with pitch maintainance - that would be fine but salaries or wages aren't an option.

This won't be kept on haha
I'll let it pass. Not brilliant - new poster, false email address, broad, sarcastic accusations from the anonymity of a username etc.

However, there is a concern about the pitch. Pictures I've seen look pretty bad, but I've no idea whether this is normal at this time of year and the hard work of the volunteers usually pulls it round, or whether it's an indication of a lack of funds and neglect.

As ever, further clarification from the club would be good.

I've just back from doing a morning shift of painting and grass cutting. The downpour(s) of rain have helped and between three of us we've got about a 1/4 of the pitch cut, nearest the Harry Rudge stand. The battery for the tractor mower/roller was being charged and the intention was for it to be rolled this afternoon and the goalmouths to be returfed on Monday. Ant was busy replacing the areas damaged by the linesmen. Sheila was painting the changing rooms.
There is still a lot to be done in terms of tidying, weeding and painting. I understand people's concerns about the pitch, but let's make sure we can all do our bit to make the ground as good as it should be. If finger pointing is what people want to do, then fine but let's at least say you've done your bit to help. If 20/30 people all turned up on the same night one hell of a lot of work get done! We all want to proud of the team and our club.

Sounds brighter news AVFC.

What's the opinion on getting the pitch ready on time?

Sounds more positive, but appreciate a lot more needs to be done.

Does anyone know if there is anyone at the ground during the day?

I am free nearly every day next week plus the Tuesday and Thursday evening for the working party.

Instead of acting like a boy why don't you grow a pair and change into 'CharlieMAN' and contact our owner by PM (that's a personal message by the way)
I do not know who you are and I am really not interested in your cheap digs at Steve who I guess is on his 2 week Spanish holiday?
If you have the experience you say in the construction industry then maybe you could join the working parties and give them your valued help and advice?

The owner was there today grass cutting, picking up the bits on the pitch and repairing the mower and tractor. He was still there when I left just after 1pm. Hopefully we'll see you down there Charlieboy to do your bit too.
YeltzDoc... I have done some pitch maintenance in the past but I'm by no means an expert. The goalmouths are the biggest worry, hopefully they'll be done on Monday and we'll have plenty overnight rain to help them. As for the pitch being ready...who knows? If like today there is 4/5 of us working on the pitch and the turf doesn't take in time it'll be no. In an ideal world it could do with all the equipment working and a number of people working all day and into the evening to be sure. Obviously, the difficulty of course is people have work and family commitments. I've been Thursday and today and I'll try and get down on Tuesday but realistically I'm going to struggle until Friday evening but will there be anyone there to open up then?
I urge all fans to offere whatever you can. Even if it's just weeding!
