We have, sadly, neither been to B&Q , sports turf suppliers or even Steptoes yard.

Can't see the ground being ready for the start of the season, let alone the pre-season friendlies.

Firstly, thanks to all who turned up tonight, it did make a difference. There is much work to be done before the start of our pre season campaign, and I urge everyone of you Yeltz fans to do your bit. If Sheila can spend the night weeding, picking up litter and generally tidying up I'm sure most of you lot can. I can't stress how much needs doing to make the ground look as it should, we should all come down the ground and do what we can. There was much concern about the pitch tonight from those who were there, hopefully all will be sorted soon.

Can only echo AVFCYELTZ comments, my post was more out of frustration to be honest.

We all need to be involved where possible, from a lick of paint to a good sweep up, and I firmly believe that we need to get back on track before we start to apportion any blame.

Anyone who can help, with a few hours to spare then your help would be greatly appreciated.

To put it in perspective, the goal mouths aren't the major concern with the pitch!

I can't do much obviously so I won't be there but can I really encourage as many as possible to get down to the ground for the rest of the working parties and make sure it is properly ready for the start of the season let's all try and make the Grove a place to be proud of just like the team on the pitch! I'm sure we all want to create the right impression when supporters from opposition sides arrive (quite a few for the first time) and making the ground looks nice is the start of that.

all this makes great reading but the real point is the owner of the club not mentioning any names ,but once owned eastwood took it upon himself to sort out the pitch with help from whoever and has made what was a poor pitch at the end of the season into something that now resembles a councill recreation ground on a good day ,with the increase in revenue and commercial interest is it being a little bit presumptious to ask could we not afford profesionall guidance .

This won't be kept on haha

Shame in a way, the pitch is a real worry. I hope I'm proven wrong but I can't see how it'll be ready for our first home game.

Quite sad really as we'll most likely lose out on that vital income.

As I said hope I'm wrong. Just shows how important the Friends of the Grove draw is. For eg if we got 100 people signed up that would no doubt pay for a groundsman to stop scenarios like the one we have now, in the future.

The FOTG draw won't be used for wages. It will contribute to the upkeep of the stadium but not salaries.

There is a lot of weeding, sweeping and painting still to be done, I'm going to pop down tomorrow morning to have another go. The pitch is hopefully in hand.

I will pop down when I can soon, but as you can probably appreciate, babysitting, some late nights working, football team to run and living in Bilston makes it difficult as well as trying to organise a wedding at the end of July, but I will be down at least once in the next few weeks, next Tuesday is a possibility !

It's hard to fit it in with work and a family Daz, every hour you can give though will make a difference.

Would a groundsman come under wages or ground maintenance? Surely the folk who contribute wouldn't mind seeing a decent pitch...
