Re: M 6 or M5 ?
Beware of FCUM next season. Only just missed out last time and will be on their own ground, with income from crowds and functions, and not paying rent to Bury. I also understand there is no loan or mortgage to service.
Tend to agree with the reservations about how they came to be, but that's ten years ago now - I'd say they've put down enough of a "deposit" to be treated like any other club these days.

FCUM are a model for supporter and community ownership. Their progress and achievements in getting to where they are now, in a new ground and playing Evostick Premier football are to be admired. I think this year may be their year as their on field progress has stuttered over the last few seasons.
The ploughman he's a bonnie lad,
His mind is ever true, jo,
His garters knit below his knee,
His bonnet it is blue, jo.
Then up wi' him my ploughman lad,
And hey my merry ploughman!
Of a' the trades that I do ken,
Commend me to the ploughman.

I agree with the Bobble here (not a phrase I use frequently). They felt excluded from the way their club had sold out and decided to start from the bottom. Sound familiar?
Whilst some will not feel that FCUM are a "proper" club, they have been around long enough to be respected and are to be saluted for saying that the moneyed showbiz football had gone too far. Along with AFC Wimbledon and Swansea, I see FCUM as being beacons of fan ownership

Indeed, from what I gather from a local source, the presumptions that because they get huge crowds they pay huge wages are just that, presumptions.Colin Bobble wrote:FCUM are a model for supporter and community ownership. Certainly, I am told that up until last season the wage budget was believed to be about mid range for the NPL, with all surplus income diverted to funding a new stadium.
So it looks as if the controllers have done everything 100% right up until now.

I have heard it said and it's probably not far from the truth, that the rent at Gigg Lane was iro £5k per week or match (not sure which). That may indicate where the larger part of their operating costs lay.old git wrote:Indeed, from what I gather from a local source, the presumptions that because they get huge crowds they pay huge wages are just that, presumptions.Colin Bobble wrote:FCUM are a model for supporter and community ownership. I have stayed off the forum for a little while (usually on here every day) and have been waiting for a positive post from you, I have to say I agree with you here, so I am going to to give you credit for this post. It's not all doom and gloom

Something isn't right here, Bobble is actually being positive and hasn't made any offensive remarks to anybody! What's going on? Can't complain though I like the new bobble!dazzlingdazza wrote:Colin Bobble wrote:FCUM are a model for supporter and community ownership.
