Ideas, suggestions and thoughts - sponsored walk

Post by RobYeltz » 25 May 2014, 20:35

Hello all.

I like a challenge and was thinking of a way in which I could challenge myself and maybe do a bit of fundraising at the same time.

My idea was to walk to an away game (or maybe walk home from an away game and finishing at The Grove to coincide with a home game). Not Stourbr*dge either! I was looking at somewhere maybe 45-50 miles away split over say 3 days. If 10 of us could take part and we each raised a minimum of £100, the £1000 raised could be split between the football club and a local charity. Obviously, we'd have to look at fixtures, and from a purely selfish point of view for me it would have to be during the school holidays. Not a huge amount of money, but hopefully some positive publicity and it would also show we're prepared to do our bit ourselves and not just rely on sponsorship.

Opinions are as welcome as volunteers...

Since I will be in college next year I'll struggle to get time off during school terms, bu if it was during the school holidays I would be well up for it! We just ave to hope that dates and fixtures fall in place for us!

I do think this is a good idea, however in am not sure I would be able to do it my missus has to work shifts so I have to be back for the kids, perhaps a possibility could be be to do it just before Christmas, colder so more of a challenge plus we could dress up in Santa costumes, that would attract more publicity, only problem is the lottery of if games are postponed, but even then folks love a hard luck story, walking all that way and the game is called off ! We could all have a bucket too as long as we stipulate clearly that half goes to the club and half to charity.

If we go to the north I would be up for running to Blyth Spartans over 3 or 4 days
