I can not believe no one else has posted this yet.
The final is a local DERBY!
Belper v Mickleover both Derbyshire.

I've always hated the play offs at any level. If 2 go up it should be the top 2, not some team that finished 20 points adrift. It is just symptomatic of all that is wrong with football today, money, money, money.

Totally agree with you Andy and whats more I think its wrong that play-off teams can probably make more money through gate receipts, spin offs , travel profit etc.,etc., than the side topping the league.

You wouldn't have been happy had things stayed the same as they were at half time last day of last season and we'd have gone up then?
I agree to an extent it's unfair, but the Play Off's have their merits.

Of course I would have been happy if we had gone up through the play-off last season or indeed ar Twerton Park a few years back. What, would you expect me to stop supporting my beloved Yeltz because we'd got in by the back door ? But that would n't change my opinion of play-offs. If only the top two (or three) went up, the form sides over the whole season would be rewarded and not some side who showed late form and came with a late run to finish in the final play off place, as is usually the case, finishing many points behind the top two(three) sides.

I quite like the play offs, let's face it if the top 2 are miles ahead of the rest, the vast majority of games are meaningless from then on in except the relegation scrap.
As long as everyone realises what they got to do at the start of the season it's a level playing field that's ok with me.
In football you don't always get what you deserve, in games where you are battering a team but can't score, then the opposition score a last minute goal which could be clearly offside or a shot is heading for the corner flag but takes 3 deflections and bobbles over the line.

Thing with the playoffs is that you love them if you benefit from them, but hate them if you don't. I'm not the biggest fan of them as it does seem that the teams who finish well ahead never seem to progress and you should get promoted based on your entire season, not just hitting form in the last month.
However, I said earlier this week that it was Belper or Mickleover for me so I'm happy with the final. Providing we stay north then we either get the Clubhouse selling Sweet 16 or the George and Dragon. Win!

I like the play offs as it gives teams who can't get automatically promoted something to fight for. Imagine how boring last season would have been if play offs didn't exist? Also I really hope Belper win the play offs. I like the club (except a couple of players). Set in a pleasant town, cracking ground, good fans, easy to get to by train and it was the ground where the magic happened. I would love to go there away again!

I think more clubs should go up automatically and more clubs come down.
If two went up automatic and one playoff - six clubs have a chance of experiencing the joys of promotion.
If you are down that end of the table do you deserve to stay up?
It would result in another two going down. May make those teams try harder.
Winner football.

I have a distant recollection of in the early days of playoffs there were team(s) from the higher level in the mix too. For example two teams being promoted/relegated automatically and then one team from the higher level and three from the lower level being involved in a playoff for the last place in the higher league.
More complicated, admittedly, and might not be welcomed by the higher level team who thought they were safe, but certainly a more intresting spectacle. Particululary for the neutral.
Is my memory playing tricks on me? What do other think of this sort of arrangement?
