Interesting comments from our Manager - Mr Duffield.
It would be a totally different approach if we weren't already guaranteed 4th and a play off place.

There are similarities to our last league game last season, when after a string of good results and with our play off place confirmed - Kings Lynn visited us (as Champions already) and we pretty much put out a 2nd team to enable us to rest key players for the play offs. We lost to Kings Lynn and then went on to under perform in the play off semi and got beat by Stamford.
At the time, resting players seemed like a good (and obvious) decision but with hindsight (that wonderful thing!) many felt that we lost too much momentum.

So.....what do we do tomorrow?
My guess is that, if selected at all, the key players may only play "bit parts" in the game to be either withdrawn early or as subs to be brought on later in the game. But who knows? We will have to wait and see.

Anyway, if the game is only half as good as the match at your place we are all in for a cracker.

A safe journey to all those travelling to Belper and enjoy the day.

I think we all need to be a bit wary opposition managers must know that due to the Internet players from other clubs and supporters have access to what they're saying as such it is entirely unreasonable to assume that they may be attempting to lull us into a false sense of security. After all nowhere does it say directly that tomorrow a weakened side will be fielded by Belper. Also it maybe harder against a supposedly weaker side as we may not have seen some of those players playing as a team. So whatever happens it will be a hard game.

It was Tits. He/she ended his/her days on the goal net at Brackley, I recall. That was the match where the very loud penalty appeal from the faithful resulted on a penalty from a blatant Eldon dive

BelperSteej wrote:Hi Guys. I'm Steej and I run the unnofficial prediction league on our forum. I have written a preview which you may or may not find interesting. I've cut it down for your benefits.

Now then. What have we got here? A fantastic occasion scheduled for tomorrow! I say scheduled. It’s meant to p*ss it down all day today and tomorrow, but as we know, we have the cream of the crop, the bees knees, the dogs bo***cks , the Meadow! Fortunately TOFCITW (The Oldest Football Club In The World) are away, as there would be more chance of plaiting fog than that match going ahead!

I have no idea why I’m really up for this match but strangely I really am. 2 very solid sides going in with blistering form. Lets look at the facts:

In the last 8 combined, both sides have won all 8 with Belper just edging ahead with 5 more scored. Fine margins I’m sure you’ll agree.

Breaking tomorrows game down into home and away form over the last 4, Belper are top of the home form charts with 9 points, 11 for and 1 against. Interestingly Halesowen are top of the away form (Nailers second) with 12 points, 13 for, 5 against.

There is also an added dynamic for tomorrows game. Regardless of the result Belper are stuck in 4th place. Realistically a draw will not be enough for Halesowen, as you would expect Coalville to do a job on Chasetown and the goal difference is 23 in Coalvilles favour. If Coalville don’t win and Belper win, Leek will win the league with 3 points as they already have a 10 goal advantage over Halesowen. So, do Belper rest players, hoping the 2 missing out will be deflated, or have a real go at it? Halesowen could easily finish 3rd and it will give us the psychological advantage in the semi final. Duffield isn’t one to back down from a fight though, so I believe it could be a bloodbath. Interestingly though, the pitch could have a real bearing on the game too. It could be a scrappy affair which I think we’ll relish. We just don’t need any injuries or suspensions but that’s the risk you take.

My prediction: It could literally be anything if you look at the facts, but I have complete faith in the Nailers. Halesowen form, F 11, A 5 or per game F 2.75, A 1.25. They have been leaking goals and we’re running riot atm. I’m going 3-2 Froggy, Wells, and Ward. In the ‘WWF’ we trust!
I think that one important factor you have mentioned BelperSteej is something that I have thought for weeks now about the second and third sides being deflated. No matter how it finishes tommorrow, it has been an unusual year with 3 sides in with an equal chance right up to the death, so the 2 that miss out will be deflated.

I would think that Belper or Mickleover will be the second promoted side because of that.

Snapper would be appropriate - and would earn you some brownie points with those of an older vintage
