Leek deducted 3 points

Post by Poll » 11 Mar 2014, 20:32

According to NPL website table Leek have been docked 3 points.

I can't find any details yet, but John Hill says on Twitter it was for an ineligible player vs Eastwood, and asks the pertinent question of whether it'll still stand if their record is expunged.

Anyone know any more?

Interesting development.

Now 10 points behind with 3 in hand.

The person in question was Glyn Cotton. He left Belper to join Leek but when he made his debut he still had a suspension to serve having been sent off in Sunday football. He has since left Leek for Coalville and played against you last week.
Please feel free to laugh your heads off. We at Belper have an excellent relationship with pretty much all teams in this league but we despise Leek with a passion.
See you next month, best wishes to all.

The nearest analogy that I can think of is an abandoned match. Points for cards count but goals scored don't

I would guess that in this case, the infringement for the ineligible player will stand even if [when] the match itself is expunged. If I was a Leek fan though, I would be a bit brassed off with the player for being stupid in not disclosing the ban

I don't understand the John Hill 'will they get 6 points deducted' tweet.

It's late and I'm tired but surely when Eastwood results are taken away it's still 3 points less than us.

Unless he meant 6 in total and not 6 more than we originally thought.

I'm confused!

Think he meant 6 in total. 3 for the game when results are expunged and the 3 for fielding an illegible player. Take it he was questioning whether the 3 points for the player would stand when the Eastwood fixtures are expunged.

Personally if the player was used ineligbly then a rule has been broke, regardless of whether the result stands.

Glyn Cotton has also served a three match ban for this. Therefore I can't see how a player can be punished and the club not for this offence

If the three point deduction is the same three points that get expunged then how do the league give the player back his three games

May as well take 3points off Coalville too.

Can't be having a player who breaks such rules get away with it!!

Belper can have some too.

While we're at it. We haven't played Eastwood either. The fixtures lie.
