Poole Town vs Corby Town

Post by yeltz85 » 22 Apr 2015, 10:02

What a match this will be!

Both sit with 91 points at the stop of the Southern Premier League..... Play each other in the final game of the season...

I will keep an eye out for this score on Sat. I know who i want to win...and its not Corby.

How many teams get relegated from our division? If its four then it will be a very interesting last day of the season esp with Stamford playing Witton! Glad we are not involved in a last day relegation fight.

Strange how when these quirks of fate throw up a head to head on the last day, they always seem to be decided in the last few minutes. Brentford Doncaster a couple of years ago was a belter and who of those old enough could ever forget Liverpool Arsenal?

3 for sure and maybe a fourth. Trafford and Belper are relegated and then it's between Marine, Stamford and Witton.

As I understand, one team from either the Northern Prem or the Isthmian League will get a relegation reprieve.

Marine must win at Blyth to have any chance (a tall order given that Blyth are going for the play-offs) and so too must Stamford in order for either to have a chance of bettering Peacehaven & Telscombe's record in the Isthmian League (currently 21st place). If P&T beat Hampton & Richmond, they are safe and 2 of the 3 Northern Prem teams will go down. Complicated...

Very complicated indeed but thanks for clearing that up. Cant see Marine getting anything at Blyth but stranger things have happened.

Well there was excitement elsewhere today. Corby had to win at Poole and did so 3-2. So they won the Southern League.

The relegation scrap at the bottom of our division was amazing. Stamford came back from 2 down to beat Witton to save themselves and Marine pulled off an unlikely win at Blyth. However they could only be reprieved if Peacehaven & Telscombe failed to beat Hampton & Richmond. P&T were winning 2-0 at half time but lost 4-2 so Marine are saved as their record as a 21st placed team is better than P&T..well I think that's right anyway!

Poole had come back from 2 down as well to put themselves in the driving seat and then still conceded a late winner.
