Final part...
Question...
When we get near to the transfer deadline (End of March) do you have a list of players that you would like to bring in to help us push on and help JH?
Colin joked that JH had the list now...then commented that it 'depends on the finances'.
Steve commented that if this place (James Grove bar) could take off, it will obviously help JH's budget.
Colin commented that if the team keep winning, people will keep coming and spending money in the bar and the cafe. Sandra as well as predicting the income generated from the gate also produces the food for the boardroom and players. If we could get another 200 through the gate think of how much money that would generate? We have more chance of getting more fans if we keep winning.
Comment from the audience:
I still don't think the local press help, should we win our next match it should be splashed across the pages of the paper that we've won 10 in a row because it has been one hell of an achievement, when was the last time we did that or any other local non league club? They need to be helping us out.
JH came back about the earlier comments about finance and bringing in new players stating that, 'should no players come in there is a bunch of lads and staff fighting tooth and nail for this club and they will be doing everything they can to help us do better. Yes we'd like more money, if only to reward these players already here. So if we can't or we don't bring in no players to improve the squad we'll still fight to the last minute to help us get to where we want to get. Its not the be all and end all to get a new player, yes we'd like to but we'll still be fighting and that' the type of players we've got. I'm sure we'll still be OK.'
Joe Hull spoke "I'd just like to thank the fans who do turn up every week and give us their support. When we walk off the pitch together at the end of the game towards the shed it does mean a lot that you're all clapping and singing. It really does help us so thank you."
From the audience:
It is nice to come into the bar after the game and see the players mix with the fans. It means a lot to us that this happens.
Brendan Kelly then proceeded to invite all to the Christmas Party on Saturday (fancy dress)
Trevor then commented about how good it is for everyone to have the opportunity to come together off the pitch. The fact that if the team have won and there are people around in the bar or need to shoot off it doesn't matter as much as if the team have lost, as that is when the players might need the fans to help pick them up. Trevor spoke of the game where he still loses sleep (Rainworth) it was a very hard game. Having this place here now has bought everybody closer, win or lose.
On the point of JH Trevor talked of his relationship with him saying that he has worked with him only a relatively short time, but has known him for a long time. Our morals our ethics 99% of the time are the same so it was very comfortable for us to slot in together. The two of us are opposites as he will calm me down, and I have three names for him, Gaff, John and Bonk..I know all three of those characters there. My job is to do the ranting and raving but in my time in management I don't know anyone who is more passionate or knows every detail about who we are playing than him. There is not a team out there that we will play that he doesn't know how they will set up, how they play, or who does what. He knows the ins and outs and every single stat. He gives absolutely everything. He is here tonight in all honesty he shouldn't be here. I know where he should be, but he is here tonight.
(It was later revealed that JH's mom was actually in hospital)
All of us are here together, let's do something special, I keep saying to the lads in the changing rooms that they're special. I know how special they are, I know how good we are collectively. I know we have 350 people often willing the ball into the net. We're not really doing anything different this year to last year but we have got the attitude right and the mindset right. Its no different if we're winning or losing. Whether it is the players or the committee members, we're getting it right. We've been through a rough patch but we were given time to get it right. There is a good feel and players who want to play for us. The players tell each other when things aren't right. That is when we know we've got it right.
It's testament to you supporters as well who support them. We took a right load of support to Sutton and Romulus, and its a great feeling. It would be great for you supporters to get some of those good days back again. There have been games this season where we've thought we haven't done it today, to walk off to a standing ovation. It means a lot. As soon as this finishes tonight we're talking about Sheffield and when do we have the lads in over Christmas. Thank you to all you guys, I'll give everything and these lads are special. I agree it isn't always about the money, its about the right player with the right attitude. Trevor pointed at NM saying that despite the fact that he has x amount of professional games under his belt he still gets a rollicking if required. We're half way through and we have to do it all again.
Question:
What happens during the week when there is no midweek game with regard to training etc?
BK: We usually get a group text of what to do over a few days, to look after yourselves, we all come in and a session will be set up. I know that the Gaffer, Kevin and Trev are never off the phone always planning or organising. We know for example that Sheffield are a decent side and we need to be on our game. If you look at some of the games we've lost, Sutton at home was my fault, against Carlton Meach got sent off. There hasn't been a team who've played us off the park. Its usually been down to mistakes. When we're in on a Tuesday training they do the nit picking and if you want to get to where we want to be you have to do that. As Trev said, 95 % of what we are doing is right. If 5% is nit picking, then so be it.
Question:
Do you players and management mind being on the coach with the supporters?
Trevor: it means a lot, it helps because we're all together. I don't see it as a segregation at all, there is good camaraderie. Its a lovely atmosphere when we have won. Some of the journeys can drain you if you drive too so the coach helps the players to chill out rather than concentrate on driving etc. On the way back its a good laugh too and long may it continue.
Colin thanked the players, management and supporters for attending and wished us all a Happy Christmas and hoped to see us on Saturday.
