Tricky one to assess - much the better team first half, but heads dropped after the penalty miss and by the end you’re thinking a point would be about right. Two KD snapshots made the difference though, and that’s a big three points.
Lots of positives though - think we’re getting there. Starting eleven is well balanced and we have a good player in each position. Just need to sharpen up, become a bit smarter and clinical, and I’d say we’re now in boggy pitch season now which makes it a little harder still.
My main plus - and the reason our form has flipped - is Ponticelli. Absolutely everything we needed in a striker. Aside from the goal threat, he’s a really canny player and does all the gamesmanship stuff well, and in the last few mins he was hustling and harrying their back line. All of which - of course - is stuff we didn’t have previously.
Lots of plaudits for Ceesay today (he’s a man mountain btw) but I thought he was languid bordering on sloppy, whilst also still managing to be very effective. If we can shake him up a bit, he could be a huge player for us.
