Brilliant appointment for me. Top manager, top bloke who loves Halesowen and everything they stand for. Fully deserves another go after all he has done on the pitch and what he has worked through off it.

First of all, many thanks to Craig and Martin for thier efforts. If Paul can come back with the fire in his belly again we may have a chance. It will take some turning round but we know most of these players ARE GOOD ENOUGH. It could be just the boost we need. If we can hit a bit of form before the play offs confidence may return and then who knows. Bring it on!

He's the right man for the situation we are in. Six games to steady the ship and try and secure second, and then two more to win the play-offs. You couldn't expect someone new to come in and deal with that.

The club have said he's been appointed until the end of the season, so we'll see what happens then. Until then, welcome back Paul.

Exactly all of that. It baffles me what people expect sometimes.

Glad to see that Socket and Nichols have gone , they simply were n't up to it but re-appointing Smith - I'll reserve judgement but not my choice.

Stats on their tenure here and where they fit in the Pantheon of Greats from the redoubtable Yeltz_Bear's mega sheets.
Good win record, but with the asterisk that they picked up a side going well in a largely poor league.
Lasted longer than Robandlarry (anyone remember him?) but not quite as long as "Watchmon" and "V for Viennetta" writer, Alan Moore.

Out of genuine interest Ken, who would you have picked?

It’s important to remember it’s an appointment till the end of the season …… no manager in a job would come for 6 games so it makes total sense

As an aside, if we're squeegeeing the lens of the Retrospectoscope and woulda / coulda / shoulda-ing the shizzle out of this, I'd have "liked" to have seen Martin Carruthers come in after Smith. I suspect that we'd have been horrible, but probably a bit more successful.

IN response to drummyb , I would have a look to see who might qualify and markb there would have been a queue of existing managers wanting the job, even with only 6 games left. Believe me , it's a very, very desirable job.
