I first visited The Grove about 3 or 4 years ago. It was against Bedford Town (or Bedworth.....) and Halesowen won. Nick Bussey played a blinder in goal from what I remember! After that game I became a Halesowen Town fan and I've have been to a number of games, including away at Sutton Coldfield Town this season. During that first visit to The Grove, I heard a chant of "Oh Halesowen, is wonderful...Its full of chips, curry and Yeltzmen" etc, etc. But I no longer hear it whenever I come down. Is it not sung anymore?

That chant was the brainchild of Steve Clayton, Steve was very good at coming up with new songs, unfortunately Steve died a couple of years back, I think the last time the chant was used was at the game when Steves memory was honoured with a minutes silence shortly after his death.

Yes - oh halesowen was penned by the late but great Steve Clayton and he used to start it at away matches when he had had a few beers. Anyway new songs are always welcome - love the Iseden Christie song by the way.

Steve Clayton - once a yeltzman always a yeltzman. As noggin has given out one of Steves songs I shall give out another - away in a manger no crib for a bed, the little lord Jesus lay down and he said............... I wanna be a yeltzman yeltzman yeltzman - Steves legacy lives on - gone but never forgotten.
