Potentially start Tuesday's game 8 points away from top (Leek). Sounds worse than it is as they'll have played two more, but I'm always a believer of rather have the points than games in hand.

Point being only lost twice all season, we could still be 8 points off the top. Puts it into prospective a little and how much more work there is to be done. A kind of feet on the ground type post, this.

How come we have a midweek game ahead of an FA Cup tie??

Can't remember that happening before. Most unusual.

Chas??

We played midweek before a Wembley final.

I see that as a bit of a kick in the balls, so to speak.

Two games in hand so it's not all bad...but like say above, I'd rather have the points.

Having said that, I seldom take note of the league until the C word is upon us.

Also, if what we saw the other night of Romulus is anything to go by then it wouldn't have been too much of a hard game for Leek.

Roll on tomorrow night, all we can do is win our games.

Westy,

It must be the prospect of spending the day at New Rd that inspired me, on my way to get morning paper, to remember this prime example of playing midweek before an FA Cup tie:

12-Nov-90 WALSALL (BSC) H 826 1 2 WILLIAMS HEYWOOD EDWARDS SMITH E HAYWARD BOURNE* HAZLEWOOD FLYNN JOINSON LANGFORD HARRISON HUNTER SMITH R
17-Nov-90 TRANMERE RVRS (FAC) H 3699 1 2 SCARR HEYWOOD EDWARDS SMITH E BETTLES HEMANS HAZLEWOOD FLYNN* BOURNE LANGFORD HARRISON HUNTER HEATH
I seem to remember highlights of the Walsall match were shown on the local Midlands TV news the following evening.
