Re: Barwell updates
A bad day at the office….. a game that had to be won, wasn’t, same as previous games …. Could have been well clear at the top of the table, but will have to settle for a play off place…. Yes as said in previous posts, we’re unbeaten in ten games and gained some good points, against better teams, but when we play against weaker sides we don’t get results, which are needed if we want to win the league…. Again today, as most games, pumping high balls up the park isn’t the answer, so why do we do it ? On the few occasions we kept it on the deck , got a good cross in , we nearly scored…. On about three occasions all game …. No where near enough… we need to be doing this for the whole game, forget the long , hopeful high ball…. As was so evident against a weaker side yesterday….. unbeaten yes…. But it felt like a massive loss …. Good luck for the play offs…

Agree with the last post, Hickman is too inconsistent.
Cassidy and Mitchell have to start.

Re: Barwell updates
Wasn’t a great game yesterday made worse by the fact other results went against us. Think that’s the title done now as for the playoffs well anything can happen… I think Bedford will be champions they always seem to find a way my only worry being that if they do end up merging it’ll probably mean the Needham Market despite being comfortably relegated from NLN will end up being reprieved

Re: Barwell updates
I think nerves got to everybody on and off the pitch yesterday. We forget sometimes that the players are only human and subject to the same feeling we as supporters have.

Re: Barwell updates
Genuine question to you, as you are a big fan of posting this slightly asinine comment.
Where did you expect this set of players to finish this season?
The expectation from the management team and ownership I believe would have been a playoff place at least. We are currently in a playoff place so your constant comment of "over achieving" is somewhat baffling.....

He's been baffling ever since he joined the forum. I suspect it's just to get a reaction. It's quite clear for all to see that had we been a little more consistent and/or kept Ponticelli we would have breezed the league. Just because we didn't EXPECT that at the start of the season doesn't detract from the fact we could have won it.

Re: Barwell updates
OK … after and night of disappointment, a couple of pints and an hour with the non league paper and my positive vibes have returned
1. We have the best home record in the league.
2. We have won more games that everybody except Kettering,
3. Only 3 teams have scored more than us.
4. And only 3 teams have conceded less.
There, the power of alcohol has cured me … bring on a five hour journey next Saturday

I don't have anything constructive to add, other than asinine is a superb word, and needs to be used more. Probably mostly in response to my posts!
