Don't take that to heart. It's just been a standing joke between some of us that I say it after about the first 3 minutes of the first game for the last 30 odd years. It's not dismissive, it's larks.

Re: Chasetown
I agree. Calling for heads is madness. That said, the arrogance and ill discipline has to change. And thats from fans as well.
Some of our squad isnt good enough and it took half a season to find our best team. Sendings off (Sim and Hawks), cost us key games. Likewise changing the team regularily didnt help. There have been mistakes made, no doubt, but we go again next year. Its not the bloody Premier league above us.
For the people talking about this being a shit league is incredibly disrespectful. And guess what, we're still in it. What does that say?

Re: Chasetown
It may sound disrespectful I agree. But. On the whole it is. There is a high proportion of teams that should not live with us with the players we have at our disposal. Unfortunately for us there still were several that proved to be as good. Ilkeston fans seemed to endlessly bemoan their performances and they won it! It's not good.

We finished third in a two horse race.andy wrote: ↑27 Apr 2022, 10:35It may sound disrespectful I agree. But. On the whole it is. Then lost the play offs when we were the better team on the night (especially second half).
It's not a good league, and we've massively underperformed both in terms of the season as a whole and in numerous games.
We've not been good enough and we haven't earned promotion. Other teams wanted it more, which is what really hurts.

But a few of the teams in our league, we also played in the league above and some are up and coming, ala Khalsa. We have by and large, beaten the "smaller" clubs, but have struggled against the top 6 and they've made us look ordinary (or have we made ourselves look ordinary??). I dont think the squad is as good as we beleive, and Im not a fan of rotating, but I also get the reasoning for it. Better than most, but not quite good enough, as has been proved. But hey, if we can get crowds like we have in a supposedly shit league, its all money for the club.andy wrote: ↑27 Apr 2022, 10:35It may sound disrespectful I agree. But. On the whole it is. I just hope that when things have cooled off, and the hurting stops, that what the club has become from what it was a few years ago is not trashed by hasty and ill thought decisions.
Paul Smith, in my opinion, deserves to continue with his ambitions into next season.
I do also think that Josh (ADY) may have his views clouded by the thought of probably having to visit Carlton's Theatre of Dreams again!
