Fairy rings. Caused by a fungus that gradually grows out from the centre forming rings. If left unattended mushrooms will grow at the ring edge. All fairly harmless though.

fitting in with the Newcastle updates thread and its ramblings about match-day foodstuffs, there is the prospect of the Nottingham delicacy of mushy peas and mint sauce in sight. Especially with Goose Fair close (although it will presumably not be taking place this year).
