Success?

Post by HasburyYeltz » 31 Aug 2017, 20:58

What would make this season a successful one?

How low is the bar realistically set? ???

We're not going up and a cup run is unlikely, so although you can't really call it success, I think I'd take 23rd place if there were the prospect of improvement next season.

A successful season would be Gaz not winning the 50/50 draw AGAIN!

Simple for me, we have players technically good enough to compete in this division.

So my version of success would be a new management team able to coach the players to the best of their ability rather than tell them to 'hoof it', or words of that effect, to clear their lines.

Makes no sense the tactics we employ.

disagree with you spooky, I do not think we have the players , You cannot keep signing players from 2 or 3 league below and expect them to compete at this level. I believe that the management is not good enough for this level and I find that their signings are surprising if , as we are led to believe, the budget is higher.

They won't feel comfortable managing better players. If they have better players they know that the pressure is higher and it will expose their weaknesses even more than they are exposed at the moment. With better players they lose their excuses. As it is, they can just keep saying about the budget

I don't care whether we go up or go down. I just want a club back that resembles Halesowen Town. That would be success

Whilst agreeing with you Yeltz 27, I have to say that John Hill 's judgement in whats a good player leaves a lot to be desired which is proven by the amount of rubbish he has signed during his tenure.

Just put a response to KenR and its gone to the ether again :-[

So KenR, a shorter version, there are very good players at levels below ours, but they play to their managers instructions.

So if JH/MC tell them to "clear it" rather than "play it" then I can not blame the player for the football style he is told to play.

Comes back to the management being totally out of their depth.

spooky, i think i've been around long enough to spot a good player when i see one, regardless of tactics, and i cannot see much in hills recent signings except possibly Goddard, if he'd get more involved.

Our player recruitment hasn't been as successful since John Morris left the club.

A successful Yeltz side should be getting close to the FA Cup first round proper - with a kind draw while pushing for the play offs, in what is (IMO) a fairly poor standard league.

We're a long way off the above, which is why the management must feel pressure from whoever has the final say on their future - they are failing to deliver success, spectacularly.

What we, as fans, have been subject to, on and of the field, for a good two years now is simply unacceptable.
