Post by YeltzDoc » 01 Jul 2017, 22:57

On a Saturday.

Someone just posted this online.

Which of these played for us?

I can see one obvious one on each side- but wouldn't be surprised if there are more!

Are there 2 on each side?

1 make it 4 plus possibly Jim Skelding and the ref.

I’m thinking 5 plus an official (not the ref)?

Bonus points to the North East for Brother Pollard.
Those of us with longer memories will remember Ian Scarr rushing out of goal against Tranmere and getting chipped when he was somewhere in the vicinity of The Edward car park.

I'd add Darren Steadman, Steve Pope and I think Ocker Davis might have played for us when he was about 40.
Plus Gary Hackett from them lot.

Without looking it up, I might go for an outside punt that either Steve Ingram or John Horne played for us during their long careers?
And we were always about to sign Toby Hall while he was scoring plenty for Tanhouse Harriers, but I don't think we ever did.

As ever, I defer to Chas (who I believe is on holiday yet again) for the definitive answer.

I'd go for Scarr, Hackett, Steadman, Ingram, Pope.

If you want another one ....

What do Paul Floud, Ian Bettles & Steve Shilvock have in common? (as well as myself😉). There are 2 contributors on here who know the answer, hopefully they'll give others a little time to ponder.

Ah I'd assumed Toby Hall had played for us at some point, but have no evidence to prove it - still, I think I did pretty well for once :)

I wondered about Toby. I don't think he did play for us, perhaps he had pre-seaon trials?
Steve Johnson also but I was confusing him with Andy Cranage.

Anthony Robinson sort of rang bells too, again perhaps pre-seaon
