Awards Night

Post by ZeeZee » 07 May 2017, 12:17

It appears the Supporters Player of the year received a cheap generic award as opposed to the Steve Spitfire silver salver. If this is the case it begs the question, where is the salver? It is also another example of any pre 2014 history & tradition being eroded/ignored.
I only knew Steve in passing but was well aware of his contribution and the love held for him by people connected to the Club, during my time in official roles I viewed it an important task to ensure this award was well maintained and presented by someone with close connections to Steve ( usually Crooky). It's a disgrace that this has been ignored but (as with the badge) the current 'Committee' will have no idea of its value. If this award no longer holds a place within the current version of HTFC it should be on permanent display in the YeltzBar (IMHO).
Unfortunately this is another example of why people are walking away from the Club in its current form.

Very disappointing.

Be nice to hear from someone involved what the reason was for this.

I totally agree with every word you say, Zee, I only knew Steve in passing but I am in regular touch with his parents and other family, and I know they will be disappointed. Sadly its typically indicative of the people running our club.

Hopefully the award still lies with last years recipient (was it Asa?).

If it is possible to retrieve it, I will ensure it takes pride of place behind the bar in the Yeltz Bar if others are in agreement with this.

Would it then be possible to arrange a mini vote on here (Poll? Doc?) and then we / I could get it engraved with the winners name on / presented to them?

Any thoughts?

If this is the case, it is another example of a total lack of care about the club that used to be Halesowen Town Football Club.
On the subject of presentation nights, Doc and others, remember the ones that were held down on the Hagley Road (Copthorne?)? Wandering home bolloxed about 5 in the morning bring back happy memories. ;D

The Steve Spitfire award is in the safe hands of Asa at the moment.

He is going to return it to me so it's up to everyone on here what happens next....

We can display it pride of place in the Yeltz Bar if people want. Then if we decide who won it last season (Asa or Asa?? Lol) I can get it engraved if people want...

Happy to put a poll on here if that's what people want.

Let me have some nominees and I'll add it.

Asa
Asa
Asa
and erm....Asa ;D

If Steves parents would like it to be on display in the Yeltz bar then it can be awarded each year on the basis that it is returned there after presentation. We'll probably only have to let Asa know anyway for about the next 6 years ::) . How old will he be then?
