Re: Spennymoor Updates
One of the things I enjoy about non-league football is that the players are approachable. Personally, I would 'make' the players go into the lounge / club after games and socialise with the fans as I believe it build camaraderie.
Having a beer on a Saturday night really shouldn't affect Tuesday's performance especially if a player has been to work a couple of times in between. I'm sure everyone could be fitter if they abstained from life's pleasures but can we really expect players being paid 'pocket money' to abstain all through the season?

No of course not, but it depends how many beers, and the smoking really isn't great for the image of the club in my opinion. I know you disagree and that's fine! There are times and places to enjoy life's pleasures but I'm not sure last night should have been one of those times in the circumstancesJohnny Bud wrote: ↑12 Mar 2017, 08:52One of the things I enjoy about non-league football is that the players are approachable. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. I fully agree with that. And I accept what you are saying- Just not sure the original comment (not yours) was valid as having watched yesterday's game singling out Asa was uncalled for. There were players (one in particular- and I'm not naming names) who did look like they didn't care and it certainly wasn't one of the group that came down to the Yeltz Bar last night. If we had 11 who cared as much as Asa, Jay, Platty, Brags etc and they had stayed for the whole season I reckon we'd have plenty more points- beer or no beer!
Re: Spennymoor Updates
I'm old enough to remember the days of Stan Bowles having a fag and a bet at half time, and Brian Robson writing club cars off after a bender,
but things move on even in the semi professional game. Our great rivals down the A458 are an example we should be following they copied the
example of league clubs in preparation, nutrition and fitness regimes.Tuesday night they were out the blocks quickly and that proved decisive.
Spennymoor sound like they have copied their neighbours Blyth and Darlington to finish the match the stronger and take their club forwards. In the
remaining matches we have it in our hands to finish one tier or possibly three tiers apart from Stour.Lets get behind the boys providing they give
us commitment in return.

Re: Spennymoor Updates
One incident during the first half that really annoyed the cognoscenti under the executive shelter was when our captain berated Lee Chilton for lack of effort when he was the only one who looked to make something happen every time he had the ball!
One player who shall be nameless deserved a rollocking throughout the game - until he was subbed.

Re: Spennymoor Updates
I'd like to say first of all as someone who has read the forums daily for the past 6 years (minuscule compared to some I understand) or so, the lack of posts/regular posters giving up is worrying. To voice my opinion ignoring all the off the pitch troubles, the management are not capable at this level. It's as simple as that. Why we're not starting with our best XI is beyond me but the subs made this weekend were bewildering. Taking Chilly off when we're chasing a game!? Playing one up front. Hoof ball.
The frustrating thing is, if that header goes in to make it 2-0 it's game over. We looked like a TEAM capable of beating anyone in this league in the first ten minutes but as soon as they scored the game turned on its head. The second half performance was embarrassing.
I'd like to reiterate 90% of the players give everything, but they are being told to play in a certain way, and if they don't they're dropped or subbed.
There are some phenomenal people at this club. Volunteers, players, fans etc. But I feel the way it's going, they, as they have been for 12 months, will drop off one by one and that will kill us.
I don't care what league we're playing in or what team we field as long as the team give everything, that's all that matters. To see the players, some of whom are far better than our level, be suffocated by insufficient management is painful.
As I've said on my other posts, let's get behind the lads and keep our status in this league (or at least that which is in our control) we need to make some noise at home games and give the players something to feed off, it's a mutual thing. Full props to The YELTZ band. How about we all get behind whatever goal we're shooting towards and have a good laugh. Get some chants and singing going.
Personally I'd like to meet as many people as possible from the forum in person for a couple of beers and a discussion on how to move forward. I don't see anything but serious trouble with the current regime. The owners, management and the few 'elitist' volunteers have to go.
So again, please, rather than moan over the internet, let's meet up in person and do something about this. This is OUR club and we have the chance to save it.
Halesowen Town has given me a purpose. Something to crave when I'm at work and feeling down. I will not let it fall by the wayside.
Halesowen Town is bigger than any owner, manager or volunteer.

Re: Spennymoor Updates
I would be interested to know what you mean by "elitist volunteers."
There are many who give their time and effort to help the club but, with all due respect to them, none to my knowledge fall into the category that you describe.

Not so quick to reply, I notice.
In someone else's words: "let's be 'avin you!"

Re: Spennymoor Updates
The point is, surely at the very least the fans should stick together? You only have to look at the forum to see that isn't the case and people can get personal with one another.
Everyone on here cares about the club and people not welcoming other fans or considering them below themselves is appalling.
