I'm yet to be convinced, based on a very poor opposition. I'll repeat. This is a very poor league and we should be much higher than we currently are.
I have to mention Platt who IMO won us that game with three excellent saves, two of which were at 2-1. The scapegoat has yet again won us points. John Hill should be thankful for the fact we've got such an excellent keeper.
We still have very good players here and I see today as very much par. A good results that need building on.

Yes they've conceded 19 in 4 games and lost every match since the turn of the year.RaidenYeltz wrote:I'm yet to be convinced, based on a very poor opposition.
Having said that, the second half was really entertaining for a change. Both teams went for it and it could've finished about 7-5.
Dunkley has been outstanding in the last two home games and was unlucky not to help himself to a hat trick. He and Chilton worked really well.
We won't go down (unless something else happens!) as there are several worse teams in this league.

Yes, well Mickleover evidently have a dreadful defence so it's hard to read too much into it. However, what was noticeable today was the movement up front was better because we had more pace. In the last two weeks, we've beaten Whitby and Mickleover, both teams (dare I say it) that Halesowen have been fitter than.

Nice to be back down the Grove for my first game in what felt like ages.
Overall, not totally convincing at times against a very poor Mickleover side but there were at least a few positives to be taken from the game. Namely - the performance of Dunkley up front who I thought was a real handful and as Y27 touched on, there was plenty more movement up front and there seemed to be less empthasis on the hoof ball with the ball being played a lot more on the ground which made for an entertaining spectacle.
The most important thing though of course is the result, a much needed 3pts. Personally, I think on points alone I believe we've got enough to stay in this division but boy are we going to need them if the outcome from the FA meeting goes against us and a points deduction is enforced.
On another note - whilst the off the field events have been forefront of conversation along with segregation between the crowd occurring over the past few months, it was good to see the fans coming together today to get behind the team on the pitch.
Regardless of people's opinions about the manager/ownership or running of the club, I think the crucial thing is at least for 90 minutes get behind the team - that's what this team needs and will help us through till the end of the season.
Up the Yeltz!

Echo most of what has been said. Very grateful for 3 points against a poor, poor side. Still, we can only beat what was in front of us and we deservedly did so. Were it not for Platt though it could have been a very different story. Enjoyed quite a bit of our play today though, especially up front. Dunkley and Delaney took goals well. We need to amass as many points as possible now before the FA take a barrow load off us.

Surprised no mention made in many reports of Lee Chilton neat finish and caused trouble down their right all afternoon.

I actually enjoyed the football today, it was a not brilliant side v a very poor side but I came away feeling entertained. Make no mistake we're in for a bumpy ride but credit where it's due.

Why isn't Delaney starting in a 442? Answers on a post card.
Delaney is a fantastic player.
