Re: Interviews
By the way that's no knock at the FOTG, I just find it sad that its how it is. In my opinion and many others WE ARE IN TROUBLE even in a poor league, and aside from the other 'problem' years, as low as we have been in living memory.

Hmmm, that's interesting. I guess that makes it much easier to ignore what the reality is and why they wouldn't need to post on here anymoreandy wrote: The FOTG folk have gone and set up their own communication

Re: Interviews
Unfortunately attendance size (or indeed income) doesn't automatically relate to playing budget.
In happier times a long time ago, many of us were shareholders and the accounts were common knowledge. Income from games was a surprisingly small proportion of the overall income (can't remember exact figures and don't want to guess), but we had a successful supporters club back then, plus some very generous board members who put in their own money. Also, everything was based around putting the best team on the pitch and winning things.
Nowadays I'm guessing the match day receipts from the bar are much less than the 'seven days a week' income from the old club, and I'd be pleasantly surprised if the current board are donating their own money to the club.
All guesswork of course, as it is for any of the other clubs, as they will all have complicated combinations of match day income, bar takings and benefactors.
However with the amount of players leaving for more money in recent years, plus the amount of loan players we're having to take on, it seems very unlikely our playing budget (N.B. NOT our income) is on the high side.
Be very nice if anyone with any facts in this area told us. To get back to the original topic, maybe that would make an interesting interview if the right person could be found?

Sorry to be a pain but I'd missed this. Ginger, please may I ask why you find it acceptable to write something like this? It is the same as when you commented on my mom last year. By all means disagree with my views, I know you find them controversial, but dont get personal when you know absolutely nothing about megingeryeltz wrote: If money is an issue for you as a poor musician
Poll, thanks for posting that

Getting personal is bang out of order. Disagree and debate with views you don't agree with, but don't get personal.Yeltz27 wrote:Sorry to be a pain but I'd missed this. I don't think I've ever seen Yeltz27 get personal with anyone on here?

Re: Interviews
Just to add some context to Polls excellent post. Having written/ contributed to couple of business plans for the continued existence of HTFC in 2009 and for a phoenix club in 2011, it would be normal for the gate receipts to be in the 17-25 % range, with the balance from bar, sponsorship, donations, commercial events.
I was told by a former Director that the "price" of a board seat was £10k per annum in the form of either cash injection or event fundraising ( I am guessing that this figure dates from late 90's from the source, certainly before my time. Another context is that Nigel Pitt publicly quoted the cost to him of his 8 years at the helm as being £400k. Looking at the accounts for the period concerned, I have absolutely no reason to doubt that.
In short, the numbers suggest that the costs to run the ground and get a team to the pitch can be covered from gate revenue, bar and sponsorship, but the means to actually pay players needs to come form private pockets or events

Which supports the reason we rely on loanees etc. Id read something similar about a local premier league team, that entrance money didnt cover wages etc.
At our level then, we rely on someones deep pockets I guess.

A good cup run or three would also come in handy. Oh hang on, someone else might have thought of that...

Re: Interviews
Premier league would expect 12-15% from the gate, but these figures are based on the old Sky contract. This the influx of money with the new contract, this ration will have fallen.drummyb wrote:Which supports the reason we rely on loanees etc. Id read something similar about a local premier league team, that entrance money didnt cover wages etc.

Hey JB....3rd qualifying round gets £10 and some Rich Tea biscuits mind!!! Never happy some folk!!
Ok. Strip money away and that we can't spend a fortune, its not beyond the realms of possibility JH has done as much as he can. However I struggle to beleive that the so called insiders would be happy with continuously losing week after week, without good cause. Football doesnt work like that, happy clappers or no. Which means there has to be something else that doesnt warrant a change in status quo. Any ideas??
