I'm inclined to agree with the Evesham Chairman when he says, "Cinderford should be made to take promotion, or be kicked out of the Southern League..."

Personally, I can see his point of view , but then that would open the whole minefield up of whether teams should be allowed to enter league if they can't afford or do not have the means to be promoted from it. And as over time with the ground grading requirements et cetera these things can change it would really make you wonder how to enforce such a ruling when teams like Cinderford have-been at their current level for many seasons.

I am happy that Stamford stayed in our division as despite some views about how long it took to get back on an evening match, Stamford is a much more preferable place to go than Corby.

However I think Cinderford are out of order. They are in Step 4 where they know how promotion and relegation works. They're not a club in Step 5 where there is an option to stay put if they so wish. I can understand Evesham's frustrations.

Evesham have won their appeal,

Will mean the following.

Cinderford Town FC - Southern League (Premier Division) - Forced Promotion

Corby Town FC - Northern Premier League (Premier Division)

Stamford AFC - Northern Premier League (Division One South) - Relegated

Evesham United FC - Southern League (Division One South & West)

Will be interesting to see what Cinderford do now...

They could resign which would mean Stamford reprieved?

Or Southern League may run with one less...

The right decision overall. I don't think I ever bought Cinderford's plea to remain where they were. I gather that they've got their own issues but it makes a mockery to refuse promotion, especially in between leagues of the NPL. It's a joke for the league to have thought this could happen in the first place. It's no doubt taken a lot of time and effort for Evesham to successfully challenge the decision, but also think about Corby and Stamford who may well have acquired players based on league and location too.
