Yes, too true. But seriously Ben could make a difference even if he was only available for home games. Who was that really talented guy we had many moons ago who couldn't play on a Saturday because of his beliefs? I can only remember he was a friend of a friend.YeltzDoc wrote:We've had many on that basis over the years.

No it wasn't Jimmy. I think it was early nineties. I'm even beginning to wonder if it was us I saw him play for now.Laurel Lane Lamper wrote:Jimmy Haarhoff?andy wrote:Yes, too true. Re: Ben Haseley
There was a bloke who was a mate of Dean Spinks who came a bit at the end of that season.
Tom something? Possibly an Irish name?
I'm sure Chas will fill in the blanks when he's gotten over the excitement of winning in an International stadium.

The name I'm thinking of is Tom Caughey but I'm not sure if that's the same bloke who was Deano's mate.
We should definitely have another section of the forum dedicated to this sort of Alzheimers ramble.

Re: Ben Haseley
Tom Caughey certainly played at the end of the Dean Spink season, including being a sub on that never-to-be-forgotten day against Wellingborough 1st April 1989.
There was a Bromsgrove player who wouldn't play on certain days. I can't remember his name but he was a good midfielder.
The win last night at the debt ridden, council bailed out concrete jungle was ok, would have liked the Pears to have been tested a little more

I would like to point out that the Norman Gifford trophy will be permanently at Edgbaston over the winter, which is why I look forward to it being retrieved in the near future and all will be right with the worldLaurel Lane Lamper wrote:Tom Caughey certainly played at the end of the Dean Spink season, including being a sub on that never-to-be-forgotten day against Wellingborough 1st April 1989.
