Re: FA Announcement
This would be a great thing.
Purely based on my belief in supporting Cinderford's right to govern their own destiny.
And nothing to do with the fact that I've got a mate who lives in Stamford, thus guaranteeing me an afternoon on the pop. And Corby being a sh*thole.

Re: FA Announcement
Word of warning, the last two trips to Stamford have been on a Tuesday evening so I wouldn't bank on it.YeltzDoc wrote:This would be a great thing.

Re: FA Announcement
was it not Corby, where the term Yeltzmen was 1st introduced in response to Corby running out to some country song about steel men building a bridge to cross a border (I'm no idea what the song is called otherwise I'd have found it by now. To illustrate what I mean) as well as the Corby fans refrain of steel men. It was certainly after we visited that the term yeltz men 1st came to my attentionRobYeltz wrote:Word of warning, the last two trips to Stamford have been on a Tuesday evening so I wouldn't bank on it.YeltzDoc wrote:This would be a great thing.

Chris, Corby's "Steel Men" tune is from Jimmy Dean, 1962 (he was better known for his UK hit "Big Bad John")

Re: FA Announcement
My main memories of Corby are the 3 mile walk from the station, the fact that I thought I'd overslept on the train and ended up in Glasgow, and their lovely fans at the back of the stand chucking coins at Floudy.
On balance, I still think I'll take Stamford.

Re: FA Announcement
Looks like you're in luck, Doc, as Stamford have confirmed they'll be back in the NPL next season.

Looks like it's happened - http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/stamforda ... 21516.htmlSeamus wrote:Suggestion in the press that it is possible Cinderford may refuse promotion from the Southern S&SW league. Probable implications for this would be Stamford not being relegated from the NPL, and Corby going into the Southern Premier.
