Retained List
The annual merry-go-round had started elsewhere. Any idea when we'll announce the list of players JH has kept on?
Anybody like to have a punt as to what it will be?

Re: Retained List
As I said after the Hyde game, it would be good to see the majority of the squad on board again next season. There was way too much turnover last season and it really did hamper us in the early stages.
It will be interesting to see whether Melvin and Maradona are kept on, as this might tell us a bit about the style of play for next season. It's unusual for Sir John to use two attacking wingers, and I've not worked out whether that's because we had that little bit of freedom in the last few months, or whether it's something we could get used to. Most Yeltz fans like seeing that kind of player.
As well as the core, I'd like to see more of Tyree Clarke, and I also would hope APS gets the benefit of the doubt after an injury-hit campaign.
And, although not technically retained, does anyone else think we've got a chance of getting Joe Hull back?

Re: Retained List
I see Hednesford are signing anybody and everybody at the moment.
John has always kept things close to his chest and I assume he will do again this season.
It beats me how anyone can sign someone prior to the AGM in June as league registrations are not yet open and players are free to join whoever they like. Assume some managers are trustworthy enough for players to give verbal communication.
Going back to our retained list, most of the players I spoke to at the awards evening were keen to stay at Halesowen next season should they be given the chance.

Noticed that Ben Haseley doesn't form part of Stafford Rangers initial retained list.

Re: Retained List
A lot of the "signings" being trumpeted are contracts. They can be signed at any time. Stour already have three players (to my knowledge) contracted for next season. Ergo, they are "signed" even though they won't have signed NPL forms yet.yeltz85 wrote:It beats me how anyone can sign someone prior to the AGM in June as league registrations are not yet open and players are free to join whoever they like. You're right that Non Contract players can't be signed until after the AGMs, not least because you sign forms specific to the League, and as we all know, that can change at any time up until the AGMs.
Contract players still have to sign League registration forms separate from their contracts at the appropriate juncture.
EDIT. A "retained list" is a bit of a misnomer at this level, as most players are non-contract and effectively free agents right now. The club has no say as to whether they stay or not beyond making them an offer and hoping they accept, or at least don't try to negotiate something better that the club can't afford. If they really want to go elsewhere there's nothing the club can do.
