I'd love to see a kit that clashes with both our royal blue home shirt and bright yellow away :)

I remember Northwood playing in blue and yellow quarters - the Jermaine Palmer hat-trick match comes to mind.

It was the only time Mrs Noggin has ever been to a football match (son # 1 was mascot)

Guess what situation came to mind? Uncanny timing

That's the main complaint isn't it? As much as I'm a fan of the change, no word before or after isn't endearing the fans.

It's a like it or lump it attitude.

Maybe they weren't expecting a negative response? But I do think someone from the club commenting, would at least help build bridges. I don't think silence is helping the issues.

Very true, but it rarely seems to be any different. :-\

Nobody seems to have picked up on the 'classic range' of merchandise that you can buy if you're not keen on the new branding.

I'm fairly sure when I originally read the new shirt release statement there was no mention of this alternative merchandise. Nonetheless somebody is obviously trying to rebuild some bridges here, which, if its not just old stock is commendable. Unfortunately though our club is still going to be marketed under this new badge and we will still play in a kit with this new badge and that is still totally unacceptable.

This will be long and yes ZeeZee is banging on about the past again, I issue no apology.

The problem with all of this is how badly it has been managed and the clear lack of any attempt to understand the reasons behind the upset.
It's fair to say most in favour of the new branding are 'post Yeltz war'. The battle to keep this club alive and protect its identity from people who were quite willing to franchise it is still very fresh, the identity and heritage was central to the fight in eventually forcing the 3 amigos to drop their plans. The spire on Halesowen Church is iconic, it's the main landmark in the Town, the club logo proudly connects the club to the Town, would you change the spire at Chesterfield to a paper hat ? I somehow doubt it.

The fact that those who have no understanding of the above have sought to take the p*ss out of those who are offended rather than make ANY attempt to discuss the problem has opened a large can of worms and widened the us and them atmosphere around the club, the belated 'retro' range is a bit like throwing crumbs to the ducks in the hope they will stop quacking, as Andy rightly points out, the Club will still be branded and play under a logo that many will find offensive due to the total lack of thought behind it, as has been shown by the alternatives on this forum, consultation, planning , respect and openess could have avoided the situation.

I just like to add as I feel I get on well with both sides in this that I echo largely what Zee has said above I can kind of see the thinking behind the change and rebranding , but some prior notice or consultation would have been better to avoid this situation, it was hardly going to be a kind of surprise that would go down well. So where are we now then, obviously it has now happened. So a statement acknowledging those that are unhappy with a commitment to review this at the end of the season would be the correct course of action, even though it may well now be considered to late on long overdue by some.. Also I feel it is crucial that those in charge of the club learn from this backlash and what they've done wrong in order to to ensure a situation like this does not arise in the future because at the end of it all. Everybody wants the best for Halesowen town football club.

Both of the 2 previous posts are very good and the points mentioned are spot on. I too fear where we are going to end up with this because for me it sure as hell ain't going away. When you read Zee's post it really does bring all the bad memories back, and remembering what lengths he and others went to at that time, it galls me to give any little bit of that success away. You don't just fight a war and win, and then give away the spoils.

I'm only just catching up on all this but I would agree with Zee Zee and Andy.

It's been a poor PR job justifying an unnecessary change under the pretext of the digital age and branding. You can do so much nowadays with logos and images if you want to, that retaining the original badge should not be an issue or a barrier to digital compatibility.

Also a simplistic badge is not going to get the club noticed more or make us more marketable through social or televisual media. Social media obviously plays a key role in promoting the club and YeltzTV has done a good job, but it's not the Premier League or even the National League. At this level the most successful marketing comes from performances on the pitch not with branding exercises which end up riding roughshod over the opinions of fans.
