Old ground in the Park - Slade On Tour, Wyndham Arms, Haunch of Venison (large potatos), Father Brendan giving Andy P the last rites in the Bulls Head

New Ground on the Plain - looks of concern from Paddy Ashdowns (???) Security team when we emerged from the pub in the square, and incredibly childish behaviour on the way to ground on the bus when we witnessed a couple of pigs 'making bacon'

Now, was Jimmy the hoover at an old ground match or a new ground match ?? Westy??
Salisbury in the park trips were great. Not really even a ground but the days themselves made the trips memorable. Evrons 2 late goals to win 3-2 caused jubilation and ticker tape to an extent I will not forget. Sadly Jimmy the Hoover never got to visit the park, his day in the limelight was at the new ground.

I like Chippenham too. Feels a bit similar to the Grove, maybe that's why?

They also host boxing matches after the final whistle. :-[ :-\

  • Bashley
    Merthyr
Brackley - where the chairman was welcoming - better than the one of their family groups that turned up at The Grove that season
Hitchin - where the floodlights barely worked and Chris Nurse (I think) caught the ball in the box but the ref couldn't see it as it was about 4:45.
More recently
  • Leek Town
Lincoln United and Rammy United with the cricket grounds

Definitely Rammy with the food in the cricket pavilion and in a pleasant spot too.

Twerton Park, Bath - a lovely "proper" old ground Complete with crowd segregation, subterranean toilets and Martin O'Connors swearing echoing round the ground. The ground where the phrase "sporting linguistics" was coined.

Twerton Park was close to the Full Moon, site of the greatest miracle since Scouse last turned down a drink

I remember Ted. I still reckon he thought he was getting on the 244 not the supporters coach! Didn't the Yeltz Yoof make up a song about him on the way back...

Hastings away the last game of the season quite a few years ago was great. I seem to remember the Andy Bradley song going on for ages...

Kings Lynn - My first away game with Yeltz 2004. Met some Yeltz Fans for the first time - Met car sharers version 1

Chippenham some years later- Met car sharers version 2

Sutton Coldfield Jan 2014 - Took Car sharers version 3

Twerton Park - My first pitch invasion having lost play off final and Ref sent Dean Breannen off after final whistle. Volted fence in one to give the ref some choice words. Polite but informative!

Belper - Pub take over pre-match, winning the league pitch invasion.

Whitby - A great day at the seaside - although the wind spoilt the game.

Blythe - Another seaside trip via South Shields.

On a few occassions over the last couple of seasons the quote about away games has been "nice day spoilt only by the result".

That's football !!
