Talking of which, have Banbury still got the stand with the crowd painted on it?Noggin wrote:Glapwell - with the fence painted to act like a cricket sight screen. I thought it went long ago Andy. I first went there about 9 years ago and it was history even then. Could be mistaken, of course.

Yes I think it was got rid of quite a few years ago. Didn't Greavsie feature it when he was on Midlands Soccer?

I might have agreed about Forest Green until I read up about the New Lawn after a visit earlier this season.Noggin wrote:As general category - "identikit new grounds" which are sterile and soul-less.
Telford and Forest Green (when used by Gloucester) come to mind. Although mitigating factors would be the house bricks thrown by the locals at Telford and the hot air balloon scraping the disused stand at Forest Green.
There is quite a lot out there about the 'Green' in Forest Green (e.g. below); sustainability, vegan food etc.
I know they've got the money to throw at promotion and are essentially a village team, but actually I really admire the principles and wish them good luck, so perhaps I should put them in the 'It were the best...'
Also the town/village isn't bad at all; the same applies to Market Drayton which is quite nice.

Re: It Were the Worst..
I do not enjoy any game where the pitch is in the middle of an athletic or cycling stadium, Too far away from the pitch.
Old Corby, Newcastle Under Lyme, Goole, GRANTHAM and Gateshead (although the latter had a decent pub just down the side of it).
Not keen on three sided cricket shared pitches restricting freedom to roam. Stourbr*dge, Mickleover and Matlock.
I thought Kidsgrove the lighting was so bad you could barely see the goal the other end.
Oxford was just one slab around the pitch and again lighting was very poor.
As for Rushall it is different in the August\September sunshine. The wind and rain did make it bad this year!

Completely agree with the running tracks comment, John.
Although, from memory, Grantham was a decent enough venue with a good bar! Nice chips and gravy, too!

Just too far away from pitch. Where Curtis was shown how to chip by Christie. So yes chips were good.
