Protect the team ? Too dam right because what John Hill and the lads have done is produced a couple of good seasons seen for many a year, back from the doldrums.
Despite us finishing the season poorly we have stayed away from relegation and we have progressed in our first season back in a higher league ! What did you expect us to do win the league at a canter
Next season I am sure John and the boys will be looking at loftier heights in the league, that again would be progress.
As for us protecting our team when you have a good manager and a group of players willing to give their all, the least we can do is Support them, we are after all wanting them to do well, not trying to drive them into the ground with constant negative comments !

I have refrained from adding my input into this as I don't want to be labelled as a 'happy clapper' as I do associate myself with the #yeltzfamily and enjoy the company of those who have been labelled as such. But I might as well add my opinion since, after.
I'm happy with what we've achieved this season. We are new to this league and are a newly promoted side and to reach 11th place is an achievement no matter how we have done in the last 16 or so games. Now, I'm not going to pretend that these last 16 games wasn't poor. It certainly was poor, I agree with the likes of Yeltz27 and Andy that yes it was poor. However, we've stayed up and got into the top half of the table, and I'm not going to let the last 16 overshadow the rest of this season. But nobody is happy with the last third of the season, not even those who have been wrongly named happy clappers. I have shared car journeys with JohnC, Rob, Raiden and Dazza after results such as the defeats to Nantwich and Belper away, and I can assure you nobody in that car was happy. Everybody knows its been a poor run but I, like the others, am happy with what we've achieved this season and I feel we have progressed. And I'm not going to let our poor run make me feel any different. And if that makes me happy clapper then so be it.

Not at all !
Let's have it your way then, be negative drive the players confidence into the ground so that if they read this they will think they're useless ! A manager who has got us promotion and a mid table table finish in a higher league to think he has done a crap job and gets pissed off that he thinks fuck this and goes elsewhere !
Then what ?

I believe it's been a good and solid season from us. Of course we're all disappointed in the way we finished the season. One win in fifteen isn't great - no matter how we dress that up. Although I believe we shouldn't be too critical given that we achieved what we set out to achieve far earlier than maybe we expected.
I do believe we're better than that run of results suggested. We had a tough run. We played all of the top 5 or 6, including FC Utd twice. We also had games were we should've won by 4 or 5. Trafford at home and Frickley away (by all accounts), for example.
I guess if our results had been mixed throughout the season, rather than the mixed start the excellent run around the Christmas period then the poor end, then it wouldn't appear as 'bad'.
While I don't think we're as bad as what the results suggested in our final few games I don't think we're as good as the previous good run suggested either. I believe we're somewhere in between that. As the table would suggest.
I think the gaffer has hit the nail on the head in his statement on the club website.
Honest assessment while showing intent to progress. I admire how he acknowledged the great achievements we've had of late while also acknowledging it could and possibly should be better.
I'm more than happy with 11th and gaining four points off our local rivals. That's not to say I don't think we should've done better - with a little bit more know how from players and management at this level, we could've achieved a little more.
It's clear we lack just that little bit of quality where it counts. It's what has cost us a play off spot - which all said and done we ain't a million miles away from achieving.
It's obvious we need a striker who can get us 20 plus goals. I also believe we need another target man to replace Christie - who I suspect may have played his last game for the Yeltz.
I'd like to see more creativity in the middle. What I wouldn't give for a McKenzie of 2/3 years ago.
I have no doubt we will continue to progress under current management.
John Hill and his team have my full 100% backing and support. I'm sure he knows what needs to be done in pre season to help us improve.
Up the Yeltz!

Raiden, what you have said is pretty much how I feel. The difference is you can get away with saying we have been poor and some of us can not. I don't understand why as during the good run my positivity on here was as much as everyone else!
