LYE TOWN 1 v 1 HALESOWEN TOWN AET - WON 7-6 ON PENS
THE LADS MARCH ON
PLAYED A VERY STRONG LYE SIDE WHO NEVER GAVE UP, BUT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN AN INJUSTICE IF LYE HAD WON WITH HALESOWEN CREATING ENOUGH CHANCES TO WIN 3 GAMES.

I just wonder... and apologies if this has been asked before, but, could any of these lads cut it in the first team? Anything stopping them?

Re: Lye Youth v Halesowen Youth
Some of the lads have already featured in the 1st team squad (Gueyes, Reid & Drake) and a few have atttended 1st team training under invitation by Shaun.
We currently have a strong group of lads that are all chomping at the bit to get a taste of 1st team football, but the physical demands are a little different to the youth level they compete in week by week. Fortunately the 1st team management are very supportive to our young talent & look to give opportunities when possible, such as Gueyes.
Fingers crossed that the youth team can continue to give that support back to the 1st team and produce a flow of players good enough to contribute on a saturday afternoon.

Re: Lye Youth v Halesowen Youth
Along with LLL I have watched several youth games this season.
The performances are a joy to watch, and I echo the bit about the physical demands of the first team. i am confident that the two management teams are working hand in hand to offer the lads a staged transition.
This is really important, as I recall a young lad many years ago who was suddenly drafted in (a goalkeeper who's name I can't recall - LLL?) He let in quite a few that night, and it destroyed his confidence and as far as I can remember he gave up playing after that.

Re: Lye Youth v Halesowen Youth
You've stumped me there oldgit....possibly Jamie Rae who came through our Reserves/Youths in 1994 and played a couple of games, the first a 1-4 defeat at Gresley and the last a 4-0 Trophy win home to Hitchin.
Otherwise try the ex-players listing:

all the goalies appear at the top of each letter.

Re: Lye Youth v Halesowen Youth
thanks LLL
Through the mists of my advancing senility is coming the name farmer or falmer.
I know it was a home game and seem to think it was a senior cup game.
I am meeting later with my other 'old gits' and we love to spend time on remembering (trying to remember) the old days, so I will open the subject up for discussion and post back with results !!!
One of our 'senior group' recently found an obscure old programme from Newport and we spent the whole night guessing the team and rambling off subject !!! May sound sad to some but what jolly stimulating stuff it was

You might be thinking of our old "friend" Nathan Vaughan. He played one match for us against Walsall in the Birmingham Senior Cup in 2004 which we lost 7-0. He never played for us again.

I wondered if you were thinking of Mark Garvey?
