MORE close? We won the league on the last day, after Coalville slipped up with just one to go! What more do you want ;)
is it best if i just stick to `knock, knock` jokes? ;)
Forgive me Capinjazz, I'm still in full time education so I'm still a bit slow. I'm getting there though ;D

This might interest you (and us)...

Worksop Town have resigned from the NPL which could have a knock-on for us...

It means a club being reprieved at this level, which won't be a club from the NPL itself as Frickley ahve already been saved by Vauxhall's decision to drop right through the Leagues. The reprieve looks likely to go to Wingate & Finchley (on points-per-game) in the Isthmian League, which will mean a club moving from the IL to the SL (Hayes & Yeading?) and a club from the SL to the NPL.

That club would most likely be Halesowen, but the more logical alternative would be for Halesowen and Stour to both go to the NPL and Corby to come back to the SL.

Watch this space, I guess...

Yes, but that makes too much sense for the FA to cope with ;)

Agree with TRM, logic says move us and Stour north with Corby back in the SPL. Whether this comes to fruition as anyones guess but it seems the preferences of both us and Stour is for that to be the outcome. Either way, I expect the derby to happen next season, its just which part of the pyramid it will be in.

TRM, I take it Weymouth are getting excited by this as well, seeing as they love you lot so much!

Weymouth are dripping with excitement at the thought! We've beaten them 5-1, 5-0, 7-0 and 5-0 in our last four meetings, plus a 7-2 a couple of years before that!

The only reason I can see that you were moved to the SL is the common sense one of us being in the same Division (be it North or South). Otherwise there was no need to switch you and Corby. So I don't see why the FA would row back on that and split us now because of this. If we stay we both stay, if we move we both move, would be my guess.

And if we both stay, who goes North instead? Answer me that!

Nope. The rules are clear on reprieves. It would usually go to the club that finished 21st in the NPLP, ie. Frickley. However, they have already been reprieved as a result of Vauxhall Motors electing to drop from Step 2 (Conf North) right down to Step 7. Frickley had the best points-per-game record of the three teams that finished 21st in the NPLP, SLP and ILP.

So the reprieve from Worksop goes to whichever 21st placed team from either the SLP or ILP had the best ppg record - that's Wingate & Finchley (ILP) ahead of AFC Totton (SLP).

Wingate & Finchley is in North London. They will not be placed in the NPL in lieu of Worksop!

Mike Appleby of the FA on the Non-League Show this morning:

"Wingate & Finchley will be reprieved back into Step 3..."

"...we then have to fill the gaps by possibly moving clubs around from Southern League to Northern Prem and Isthmian to Southern. We haven't quite worked that one out yet but we're close to doing that and should finalise that tomorrow."

That was recorded yesterday - so "tomorrow" means today.

Looking forward to something being announced pretty sharpish then...
