Areas that need strengthening?
John Hill has done an amazing job getting the team promoted and for that level his tactics have evidently been spot on. However, I know from watching past matches in the league above that the standard is quite a bit higher and feel that certain areas might need strengthening if possible.
Personally I feel that the defence is definitely good enough and have been brilliant all season. The strikers will cause problems obviously. What concerns me slightly is the midfield. Granted, most of the time they get bypassed as the ball is launched over the top, but in the league above we are going to need to play a bit more football to compete. I think we need a more mobile and slightly more technically capable midfield if we are to survive. The effort of the players has been phenomenal and they totally deserve their chance next season but looking to improve is no bad thing. Hopefully John Hill and his team have one or two ideas in mind!

Re: Areas that need strengthening?
I'm very much of the belief that these players deserve the opportunity to play at the next level. That said, a number of them have played this season in a league above what they have previously, it may be a step too far, it may not.
I guess a lot will depend on budget and what league we are in.
If I was manager I would want another player who could play CB, Curtis and Joe have been outstanding but I would worry if we lost one of them.
Isedyn has been a revelation but how long can he go on for and with more games to play another striker might be a good idea, I guess that depends on Danks.
In midfield, I like the choices of Macca, Forde, Tonks and Turner, all different types of midfielder that all bring a different thing to the party.
Some players may want to move on, we don't know. I'm more than happy to trust John Hills judgement though.

I think we have players here that will at least achieve a mid table position next season, granted team spirit doesn't guarantee everything, you need some quality too especially in a higher league, but earlier in the season especially I saw evidence of us playing football on the ground, we did seem to play more direct most of the time which was effective so we kept doing it.
I agree perhaps a Centre Back as cover, I think Danksy is a very good flexible player who can play midfield or striker, if he doesn't sign then I would like to see either a replacement or an addition to both positions.
John Hill has been magnificent, cool as a cucumber, the John Lowe of Darts many years ago, if we have had an injury he has got a replacement straight away, but the one thing that sticks with me is how he kept with Matt Sargaent even though he had a couple of dodgy games early doors, he believed in him, fair play !
We are guaranteed whatever happens next season our players, management will give everything, as a supporter that brings be great comfort and it's all you can ask for. Roll on next season can't wait !

Re: Areas that need strengthening?
I think we need someone in the middle who can hold on to it and play it a bit. Someone like Ashton's number 8 on Saturday or a younger Macca (no offence Macca). Also someone on the left wing who can get a quality cross over.Other than that the core of the team is as solid as a rock. Who ever comes in this summer no matter how good or experienced they will have to work there socks off or they won't be around long. Can't see JH putting up with anyone not giving anymore than 100%. Also it has been a great season. We've done better than what a lot of people expected. Its important that our expectations as fans are not to high next season and we are patient and get behind the lads no matter what. Up the Yeltz in JH i trust.

Does anyone know if we still have Kyle Brady on the books, after an injury hit season could he be our extra forward for next season ?

I saw a few tweets from him saying that he was doing some training a few weeks ago but it wasn't anything football related as he was still 'taking it steady'Laurel Lane Lamper wrote:And Eric Bowen?

Re: Areas that need strengthening?
If any player becomes available we should look at them. Within reason.
I would look at cover left back. We need a play making CM in the the mould of Macca, who won't play every game. And ditto with Iseyden. Cover right back. I presume if Green was injured, it would be a case of Hull right back and Bredon stepping in at CB?
Forward options of Danks, Ben, Christie and another player would sufffice.
I would also like to see a couple of pacey wingers come in. I feel at times this season we've lacked pace and width.
I remain absolutely convinced that given the right training and confidence there is a good player in Gueyes, but he didn't cut it many times this year, unfortunately.
Again Griffiths, has done decent enough and popped up with a couple of important goals, but we need more options out wide. Tonks stepped in and put in a shift out on the right but he's best used in the middle of the park for me.
I do think we will keep the core but we do also need to strengthen and replace any outgoing players.

Re: Areas that need strengthening?
This season's players deserve a chance and I think most are capable.
After this season I trust JH and his team to make decision's.
I will support next season's team win, lose and draw the same as I have this season.
I hope the majority stay and we see a couple of new faces.

Re: Areas that need strengthening?
With better organised defences at the higher level, I don't think our direct style of play which we had especially 2nd half of the season is going to be as successful. We need more width, and more pace in midfield to get up and support the strikers quicker. That means Tonks back into central midfield, and hopefully Lait back fit and playing regularly.
