Re: CHAMPIONS
What a day!
Train journey up was brilliant, good banter with the Swindon lads.
The Hobby Bobby at Derby on his radio saying "I don't know who this lot are but there's loads of them".
The yellow taxi convoy up to Belper.
The George and Dragon, great pub, great beer and the atmosphere was immense.
The game itself was as tense as you would expect but we did what was needed, the scenes at the final whistle were to behold.
Then Swindon sing off part 2 on the way back to New St.
To finish, Owen and I popped into the Shakespeare by New St and were congratulated by loads of Zulus, surreal.
I am so proud of our team, our management and our support. Head isbanging this morning

Re: CHAMPIONS
Goodness.
I think I was the only sober man in the ground and I hated every minute of it. YeltzDoc Jnr went and stood right behind the goal because I was apparently "doing his head in" with my twitching, pacing, swearing and general nervousness.
But what a day, our center halves must have worse headaches than our fans, the amount of clearing headers they put in was unbelievable. It seemed that we barely had a kick in the first half and the second half wan't much better. The shift that the back four put in was immense, considering that we barely had the ball, I don't remeber Seargent having a save to make.
The scenes at the end will live with me for a long time - lots of portly middle aged men trying to climb over a fence that was just a bit too high, and a few tears were shed.

correct... portly, middle aged... and there were certainly tears in my eyes as I chose an access point with a bit of scaffold pole sticking up in just the wrong placeYeltzDoc wrote:Goodness.

Re: CHAMPIONS
Congratulations to everyone. A game that was just tense and exciting enough to make you realise how good the opposition has been this season and how hard we have had to play. Thought everyone played well with Hull and Tilt particularly superb at the back but well done to all players and officials for making us fans feel so part of it. Enjoyed the celebrations as much as anyone. Just a minor grouse about the p...head fan who kept one coach waiting so long and those who really should have held their beer better. Hopefully at least they won't have as clear memories of a great day and fantastic season - but next time I'm driving. Well done again - I just checked the Sunday Mercury and we definitely won?!

Re: CHAMPIONS
Yesterday was brilliant, I'd go as far as saying that was the best day of my life. The train up there was a good laugh with the Swindon fans, who we totally out sang
yet no trouble as it was just pure friendly banter. The drink in the pub and standing outside was class. Glad to put a few names to faces as well! The game was just a non-stop celebration, the celebration for both goals was unbelievable, especially when Raiden tried to pick me up
the train back was superb though, however I apologise to the five young girls who got surrounded by all of us on the train from Belper to Derby and also the ticket lady on the cross country train who were waiting for me, ZeeZee, Dazza, everybody else and the Swindon fans (who we saw again) to stop singing. She was waiting for 15 minutes
What topped the day off was the pitch invasion and hugging everybody and jumping up and down with Trev! What was also brilliant was seeing everybody celebrating together and seeing the emotions, it really was the sort of stuff I'll remember for the rest of my life.

Nope you weren't I deliberately decided to drive and be Sober.
I wanted to enjoy every minute of this nostalgic day, and I did. I did enjoy a couple in the James Grove bar when we got back.
Still keeping checking website to check it happened.
